Thanks! That fence came out straight as an arrow this time. They usually don't when I build 'em. The softener will use more salt the more water you use of course. Today I'm gonna crawl under the house and hook all the water hoses outside back to the hard water side of the plumbing so we can water the yard and wash the cars with city water. It's been in almost a week and the salt level looks the same. There's just the two of us. A large family will use more for sure. I wish I knew an expert that could explain the thing to me in simple terms without charging me for the explanation.

Thank you! I should have known there was a video on you-tube. So they only use salt when they purge the tank with the beads. The guy at Home depot said it'll purge once a month on it's own at 3 in the morning when nobody is using water. That's why it hasn't used any salt yet. In the instructions it says sometimes you can get a salt bridge in there where the salt on the bottom dissolves but the salt on top doesn't settle. It forms a bridge across there that you have to break up with a broomstick handle or whatever. I'm totally in the know now!

Brent if you have ever been to Dover Downs casino. The front entrance has a concrete pad but if you look at it it looks like it is laid brick. The had a roller tool to put those brick services there. It was really cool when they did it.
FYI Bill

That is a nice fence Fox. Hope mine'll look half as strait. Though realy I'm only putting the wood part in front of one neighbor, and I don't like that neighbor, I suppose it can look like heck Did you use a standard post hole digger? I'm going to be digging through dirt and granite rock. I fear it'll take more than a day

Yeah I used a regular digger. I had some roots but no big rocks to deal with. I had 5 holes so I bought 4 - 60 lb. bags of concrete and it worked out perfect. It came out straight because I ran a string line instead of eyeballing it like I usually do. I was working for an old lady on this one but the guy that lives on the post side of the fence is a doctor with big bucks so I wanted to do a perfect job so maybe he'll call me to do some work on his house. New customers are a good thing. I dug post holes in rocky soil before. We had to use a big 5 foot steel wrecking bar to loosen up the rocks and pull 'em out by hand. The holes ended up nearly twice as wide as they needed to be so it took twice as much concrete but I was working for a fencing company that had a mixer on the truck so it wasn't a big deal. Hand mixing in a tub is a bitch so the less the better.

Mix the crete on the dry side so the posts stay up and it'll set up faster. The dryer the soil the faster it'll set up too.

We watch Stand Up comedy and regular movies. Right now we are watching the Cavs/Warriors game which has been a pretty sloppy game so far for both teams and the officiating. She's got a bad foot and I have bad knees so we watch TV in bed. Getting a knee replacement July 17th so gonna be spending a lot of time in bed.
