Is this the motor that you are looking to buy a crank for? Yes it is. There is nothing one can hide from you, you are really good at adding things together aren't you. Are you familiar with the 5BM engine?

Every Minarelli Horizontal engine uses the same crank. They all use the same crank apart from the 90cc models, they have thicker splines (and ofcourse longer stroke). So every 50cc engine uses the same crank.
The only difference between the minarelli engines are: 1: Longcase and shortcase = different gears and cvt cover. 2: 5BM and any other minarelli engine = reeds 3: 50cc stroke engine and 90cc stroke engine = spline thickness
Dunno for sure about the vertical engine....in a faint memory I thought they had a shorter stroke...but when i just looked it up it said 39.2mm just like the horizontal engines.

The reason I wasn't sure was because tsimi said that his motor was narrower between the cvt side and stator side than the Zuma and Aerox motors. We came to this conclusion when we were measuring where the inner fender mounts on my motors and his.

Yeah i remember. That was the width between crank case (CVT side) and exhaust mount on the other side. Even the tires are wider so there must be more space to fit such a big tire, right?

spaz12 Lucass2T oldgeekDoes one of you guys know how to exactly remove that main rod on top of the engine? I got those special pliers where you can remove those rings that sit inside the groove near the bearing. So I put those near the middle and then I used a mallet and gave it a few good hits but it won't move more then 1/2 inch till now. Is there anything else that I have to remove before giving it another "real" good hit with the mallet? Today I went to the home center near by to get those pliers and while my co-worker was having a smoke I saw this. A beat up old Jog Poche. I thought what would be the odds that this one is also a 5BM? Well....it was one! 3 engines within 2 weeks. I believe that if I would go on a searching rampage I would probably find more then 10 within a month easy. So guys bring your empty suit cases, plenty of space in my house to stay over for a few days. Just don't tell the house president why you guys really came to Japan. I almost wanted to leave a message that says "before you decide to throw it away or sell it, call me please." But I didn't. That person is probably an old woman not knowing what she has under her a$$. What a shame and waste, really. At the first sign of trouble she'll go to the bike shop and they will tell her to forget about that nice Jog and buy a new 4poke slow mobile. That Jog would then land on a scrap yard and get crushed. I will do some research and look for such a Scooter/Bike scrap yard see if I can get a couple parts or cases out of there.

Once you move those snap rings near the center, like you did, that rod should just slide out. Considering what shape it was in earlier though, you'll probably have to give it a few good wacks with a rubber/plastic hammer to loosen it up. Usually, they'll just slide right out with no problem though. And I'm with ya on it being a shame that people will junk those scoots for just small problems. Too bad you don't have the property to start your own scooter junk yard. As they say, one mans trash is another mans treasure!

Got the mounting rod removed! A bit of WD40, 400 grit sand paper and 4-5 strong wacks with the mallet and it moved. Once it started to move it went fairly easy even by hands.

Its narrower yes...but thats because the aerox engine has a fairly flat cvt cover while the short case engines have a deep cvt cover. But the internals are all the same and interchangable About that rod.. move the snaprings to the middle and beat the rod out with a hammer. Oh and use WD40! edit: i see you already got it out haha!

Thanks Lucass2T Just received my tools! Yes! Fly wheel puller, case splitter and crank installer Can't wait to use the crank installer. No hot, cold shit. Only put the bearings into the case then pull the crank through, done!

Myself, I still use the hot/cold method and have the installer finish up the job. I start with frozen bearings put into the heated cases, then later frozen crank put into the case halves that already have the bearings. I can always get one side of the crank in no problem but the other case half usually sticks before i can get it all the way on. That's when I use the puller/installer to suck it through the rest of the way. That's just the way I do it though.

Lucass2T Thanks for the Link. I do understand Italian, German(Mother language), Greek, English, a bit of French and Japanese so no problems there but for that video you don't need any specific language skills. Came back from work and you know how it is when you have new tools....you want to use them asap. So I thought I remove the fly wheel and leave the rest for the weekend but then I encountered a problem. Look at the following picture and tell me how to remove that fly wheel. 90GTVert, spaz12, katastroff, oldgeek anyone? I did remove it and I will show how but I am curious to see what answers I'll get.
