Today I removed the rest like oil pump, center stand and all the other small things around the crank and opened the cases. *PANG!* Again a loud sound and it opened. Look at that beautiful factory trench work! Lucass2TThe cases contain 4 bearings total, 1 bushing for the rear shock and 4 studs for the cylinder. The weight 4.3kg.

I think its so cool minarelli made this trenched engine. Like they where designed for racing. They where probably looking at the aftermarket scene and anticipated to what these engines where sooner or later gonna end up...in racing

I am having a bit trouble getting the cases cleaned. Especially the deep, narrow spots are a PITA. So far i tried, high pressure jet cleaner, steam cleaner, thinner, petrol, carb cleaner and all the cleaners i could find under the sink. All failed to get the job done. The best so far was some sort of lemon bla,bla,bla... cleaner for ovens and other oily places combined with a toothbrush. But i can't reach the narrow spots. Could i keep the cases dipped inside vinegar or some other acid like solution for 2-3 days? Or would that damage the cases?
I would like to paint the cases after that that's why they have to be very clean and oil free at least on the outside.

I always use gasoline and a stiff parts brush that sorta looks like a woman's powder thingy? I'll try to find a picture and then see if I can upload it with this new tablet

Nope, good and stiff. I don't know what it's made of but I've been using mine with gasoline for years and it's held up quite well

What you could try is asking an 'engine shop'...dunno how to call it. But a factory or something where you can get various (mostly car and truck) engine parts overhauled and/or repaired. When i used to work in a car shop we often had warped cylinderheads milled and those where GREASY and DIRTY! But when they came back from the engine shop they looked brand spanking new!
Maybe you can ask if they wanna throw your cases in the tub along with a car's cylinderhead or whatever other part? Then your cases will look new!

RaizerWell, I wish I had that tool I didn't know that there are different types of fly wheels. I bought this fly wheel puller That didn't work with that fly wheel since there are no threads inside it. I needed this one here. But I cannot order another one right now so I improvised and used this. There was a very loud *BANG!* and I thought "holy what the just happened?" I thought I destroyed something but looking closer all was OK. I'll definitely get the other puller too sooner or later since I am a tool it is always good to have special tools that might come in handy in the future. if you get the proper flywheel puller, the one that screws into the center of the flywheel and possibly the one you used, take a hammer and tap on the pullers center pin while tightening the puller. This helps break loose the flywheel from the cranks tapered shaft.

Have you tried break cleaner? Yes i did. Don't get me wrong all cleaners work more or less if you put some elbow grease behind it, I am just looking for an easier way. Something like, spray on, wait 15min., flush away, done! kinda thing. Petrol, carb or break cleaner evaporate fast and don't give me enough time to brush unless i buy 1 gallon and brush the cases while dipped in it.

Oh! Get some hydrochloric/muriatic acid! It's real nasty stuff but it'll get anything clean! Don't let it sit too long though! It will eat away your precious cases!
