Went over today to do the leak down test, which turned out pretty good. Lost half a pound in hour or so. I think it's good.
While letting that sit I went out and washed the panels then let them air dry. Gave them a good coat of primer and now I see the few spots that I missed in my sanding and filling. Should be pretty quick to get those done and on to painting.
While I was waiting on the panels to dry, I figured that I'd go have a look at the carb.
Pulled it apart to see if maybe something had slipped through my first cleaning of the fule system and into the jets. Nope, pretty clean. Then I had my little partner look for the numbers on the MJ. 93, which is what Pig informed me was the stock jetting. Confirmed that on ZF as well.
Anyway, I put the carb back together and was bored waiting on the panels and figured that I'd ride it around without the air box and see if I could hold my hand over the carb at varying levels of suffocation. Well, It started up and idled just fine. Started to take off with my fingers in front of the carb then for whatever reason removed my fingers completely and I'll be damned it it didn't run perfectly! Rode it around the block several times just to see if it acted weird, but it never did.
The previous people who had it must have drilled out the MJ. Had to of. I see no way this thing would run on a stock jet with a pipe and an open (non existent) filter. I even pulled the snorkel and foam out of the air box and it won't run right...
I won't be able to get to it tomorrow as I have too many things to do, but I'll get over there the next day with a few extra plugs. I'll also be ordering some more jets so that I can get that air box back on there.
