Fireworks here in the UK we have the 5th of Nov and 1st Jan as traditional pyro use days,my dog hates them she is a quivering wreck under the TV for hours and will not relax for days, but hey ho it,s life and I can,t stop them so I am resigned to sitting with her until her fear abates.I have tried numerous tactics but none work, just a rant Geoff & trixie

Know what you mean. I spent couple of hours driving around looking for a neighbour's dog that night. She was the other side the river at their mother in law's place which must be about 7 or more miles by road poor thing. Couldn't have wadded across the Teifi that night as that was in full flight after all the rain.

Sorry to hear that. It's never easy losing a loved pet. Animals have a way of training us without us knowing. They just let us think we're the boss for a while.

Sorry Scott. I think I need a cat to train me. I'm a dog person and not around cats much. Some of the ones I've been around rub against me, seem to want me to pet them... and then bite/slap me.

90GTVert, You are starting to understand cat communication. Thet like how you move and smell. The bite or slap is telling you that you are not done paying attention to them. A real bite or clawing is not something anyone should experience. They are really cool and independent.

Daughter's ex racing greyhound rescue dog snapped it's rear leg when a damn firework went off. Vets reckon anywhere between £2000-£4000 depending if it's pinned or needs amputation or not. Just found out it's going to be amputated tomorrow.

Hope it goes well. A 3 legged dog can be quite happy.

Thank you both, I not heard back from Katie yet so will keep you posted. I met a chap today when getting coffee and his little pooch Frankie. We got chatting about his tricycle and I may get to help him electrify it at some point.

Let's hope he recovers from the operation quickly. Dogs are very resilient.
