the temp will be in the 20's tomorrow, perfect for working on the vento triton r4 variator..i have not been inside the tranny case yet but i have read that the variator nut is a reverse thread.. i am not sure there will be any exposed thread, so i ask those who have gone before me.. i have a rattle gun but lack direction..thanks

Never seen a left hand thread crank on one yet. Unless you wanna call it reverse thread cause ya gotta put the gun in reverse to remove the nut? lol ;D

Variator rotates counterclockwise. The nut is a standard righty-tighty lefty-loosey

The only left handed thread on a varator that I know of is on my United Motors Xspeed. They DO HAVE a LEFT HANDED thread on the varator but a standard thread on the clutch.

You shouldn't need to do anything to it since you have an impact gun to remove it.

i swapped the 4g for 5g and seems slower on top end, after a brief ride at 18f.. i will try 4.5 and see what happens. then there is an extra part that i not sure of its placement. its a thin washer that fits over the splined part of the shaft. it put it between the fan and the kick start engagement part. i looked at the parts schematic @ parts & accessories but did not see it..

Just a spacer. If it's on the outside of the vari as it sounds it's just keeping your kickstart pawl or gear in the right spot.

i was able to make only 2 runs today, to darn cold. 5 and 6 g rollers with a daywot unit.. 6 seems to be about = to the oem unit with 4g rollers. gonna be in the 30's tomorrow, i have 7 and 8g to try. the gasket is torn and missing in a few spots, is it worth replacing? the daywot unit is only 1 piece and a set of 8 g rollers. no cover with guides or center bushing, but it is less $.

Don't bother with the gasket. It's pretty much useless IMO.

Do you have a gr. scale to check the weights? They may not be what the say. You can mix them every other one on the var. . Or drill out the heavy ones if to heavy. Temp. changes things to.
