I bought a used non-running Chinese 125cc dirt bike a couple days ago for $100 off a guy through CL. The guy said it needed a new stator. It had a new CDI and coil on it so I figured the guy knew what he was talking about but even still, when I got it home I played with it for a while with the old stator and after checking everything carefully I found that one of the pins had come out of the CDI plug connector a little bit. I pushed it all the way in and it started sparking. Cleaned the carb, replaced some missing bolts and screws, adjusted the valves and the thing runs like new. I cleaned it up real nice and put it on CL for $550 OBO yesterday. I got a buyer that's gonna pay me $625 for it because I'm gonna deliver it to him. It's a long drive but after gas used I should come away with a $475 profit for a couple hours of fixing and a couple hours of driving. You guys can do the same thing. The key is spotting the right deal. It's fun little bike. I wish I could keep it.

Nice little bikes those are. There's some good cheap 110cc ones available here, that I quite fancy.

oh, does a chinese dirtbike have good power? More than the GY6, yes. The ones I'm on about come with foam open filters and more free flowing than usual exhausts stock.

Yeah it has a pretty free flowing air filter and oddly enough only a #92 jet in the carb but it's got more torque that a 150cc scooter because of the fact it's got 5 gears and a chain with sprockets and a large diameter back wheel so you have more mechanical advantage than a scooter with 10-13 inch wheels and a fixed gear ratio in the rear end. It goes about 60mph.

That was a sweet deal. I thought you were gonna ride it for a bit before selling it. Maybe do some wheelies and jumps for us. lol That's cool though. Congrats. You guys can do the same thing. The key is spotting the right deal. No, we all can't. Some of us fall in love with every 2 wheeler we get our hands on and wanna mod 'em to see what they're capable of. lol

It's too small for a large adult and the rear shock is too mushy for my fat ass. It's a good bike for a crazy teenager. I'm scared to try a wheelie because I flipped a dirt bike over backward trying one when I was a kid and it not only rang my bell real good but it knocked the wind outta me for a minute. You guys can do the same thing. The key is spotting the right deal. No, we all can't. Some of us fall in love with every 2 wheeler we get our hands on and wanna mod 'em to see what they're capable of. lol I think psychiatrists have a term for that. lol

So the guy bought it. Cha-ching! When he first started it up he revved the crap out of it cold with the choke on. I was hoping and praying it wasn't going to blow up before he gave me the cash. The guy lives out in the boonies near Barstow. His house is approx. 100 yards from raw desert. He goes, "I wanna test ride it a little" so we go around the corner and he tears off down a bumpy-ass trail at full speed. I'm standing there with fingers crossed muttering "Hold together baby!" like Han Solo talking to the Millennium Falcon. He disappeared over a rise for a minute and then he reappeared and I could finally breathe again. It's a long drive from my house to Barstow and I would have been very disappointed had he not liked it but he did so now I can afford to get my trailer all tricked out for hauling scooters. I won't lie though. I was halfway to Vegas with a pocket full of money and I did think about a little side trip for a minute cause I've never been there before.
That dude has a few Chinese ATV's in his garage. One with a GY6 150cc engine and a couple with the CG type like the dirt bike so he knows how to fix them. We talked about how people knock Chinese bikes and we both agreed that the overwhelming majority of people that are dissatisfied are the people who are mechanically clueless.
Anyway, I started this topic not to show off but mainly to show others how you can make serious cash by flipping these things.

Exactly  There is still the myth out there that you can't find parts for them anywhere still. I was checking out a certain "girl" scooter forum, and was very disapointed the way many of them perpetuated the chinese scooter stereotype. Yet the most common answer they had for tech questions was to take it to the mechanic. I won't be hangin with the girls

To be fair, some parts are hard to find. Some are hard to match (I know you know all about those Chinese stators Goose). That sucks. I imagine I know the place you are talking about. It's a shame if they bash Chinese scoots and don't know how to fix much. That's not exactly good for the stereotypes of women and anything mechanical either. There are Chinese bashers on pretty much any scoot forum though. They definitely have their weak points, but often the biggest problem is an owner that didn't do their homework and bought the cheapest scoot out there, never expecting to touch it.
