Have you checked battery voltage or tried charging it? Maybe there's enough power to operate lights, but not to engage the starter. If you can get it charged and it still eventually dies, it could be that the stator is not charging the battery. Even a car battery will get weaker as time goes on without any charging. It could also be a bad relay or starter. More info : 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/647/start-troubleshooting?page=1

I would try crossing the two main poles on the relay with something metal like a screwdriver or a wrench. That basically bypasses or bridges the relay. The starter should turn even with the key off. If the starter does turn, then you check for voltage on scooter or harness side of the small two prong connector plug for the relay as you or a helper presses the start button. If you get voltage (12+VDC) at that connector then the problem is more likely than not going to be a bad relay. New relays are cheap and easy to replace. www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR1.TRC0.A0.H0.XGY6+starter+relay.TRS0&_nkw=GY6+starter+relay&_sacat=0This video shows how you can "repair" a bad relay. They are so cheap I always just replace them.
