I thought they were just jacking me around with giving me as little information as possible, I talked to the coworker going with me, they've barely been able to tell her anything as well. "when are we leaving?" "first week of February" "what day? " "............. Here's some paperwork." "seriously, what day? " "......(silence)......" Usually they give months in advance to get everything sorted out and the company cards and passports straight. Not this time I guess lol

Yes those Typhoons are cool scooters. I thought about getting one years ago as a run around. Some cheap scooters on there

Well, they bamboozled me. A lady that everyone thinks is a total twunt was pissed that I was getting to go and had went to HR. Well, she got her way. So I guess I'm stuck stateside. Fml. I really wish now that everyone didn't find out that I was picked first then booted. They're gonna bust my balls so bad. Right before being told, my kick-start busted on my scooter outside of work. It was a sign. Thank uber for getting me home...

Thanks man. It all works out better this way, honestly. It was such a short notice that I'd be struggling to get everything done on time. And I won't put myself close on funds trying to pay things I need to. Plus, I get to do more stuff with my scooters...

Always seems to be the nice guys finishing last. If you were more of a pain in the but and kicked off you would probably be going still Don't let it get you down too much

I'm already over it. It seems irresponsible to go so quickly, thinking of it now. It's also a huge stress relief not having to deal with trying to get everything taken care of in such little time. And true, the nice do tend to finish last. I just try to do my job well, everyone still thinks I'm an overachiever. Not hard when they set the bar so low...

A woman that initially turned the opportunity down. Once she heard I was picked she got pissed, went to HR. Then my bosses boss superseded all other decisions on me going, saying that she was more suited for the trip. They wanted 2 mid level setters for these new lines to go to learn from the Germans that designed it. Me and another girl were pretty much that. But when this woman got her way they said she fit the criteria better because she was more experienced. But the other girl is less experienced than me? And the technicians, other setters, operators, and our supervisor don't understand because I am actually better at these lines than she is. The woman pulled the sexism card, had done it before. Office people got scared and made excuses. Everyone sees how contradictory it all is. And everyone was totally pissed at her for screwing me out of it. But I am glad it was her rather than a few others that wanted to go. She might actually come back with some useful knowledge. Might.... I'd like to have more than 2 weeks to prepare anyways. Maybe next time. I've about lost faith in my company, which I had decided was my career. It's very depressing. I don't want to wake up to go to a place just for a paycheck. But they've made it clear that what is on paper is more important than actual performance. And that's why our plant will lose it's business to Mexico before 2020.

Just so you know, there are no 'careers' with a company anymore. Conduct yourself accordingly. Companies only look after the bottom line for the owners or shareholders and maybe a few in top management. Companies have absolutely no loyalty towards their employees and employees shouldn't show excess loyalty to their company. Always do what is best for YOU! Always be on the lookout for a job that pays at least 10% more elsewhere. Get out NOW, 2020 is just around the corner and +10% or even -50% may not be an option then...
Just look at Sprint today, firing 800+ employees rather than finding a profitable new task or enterprise for them. They will be a glut on the local job market making that -50% look good.

Very good insight. Thank you. I tell myself often that I'm a number to them and that I need to look out for myself. I more often than not do. I have a hard time though, where most everyone, almost every where is a bare minimalist. That's not how I was raised and I can't seem to get on board with them no matter how hard I try. And it frustrates the shit out of me. There's no changing it, and it seems to be the sad future ahead. I would love to beat feet to another place that wasn't like this, but I'm sure it doesn't exist unless it's Third World or something.
