Why the older set? Whats the difference between the (two? Or three?) versions? I have no idea Lucass. I tried to find any info about it but no luck. When you check one of my previous posts in this topic you can see a detailed list of the items contained in both sets. The back plate and the bushings have different product numbers. Other then that I was not able to find any other info. scooter-attack.com lists the item with old product number (241.707), scootertuning.ca lists the new set with number (241.727) I finally got the newer 241.727 set.

Really curious because i don't really think there are any differences between the variartors for different minarelli engines. They're all exactly the same as far as i know...i mean...every crank is the same (except the 90cc cranks with big splines) and I've truly never had any indication to suspect there are interdependent differences between cranks/splines and/or cvt dimensions.
Weren't those partnumbers for the whole cvt set with belt and torquedriver/rear pulley? Because the minarelli shortcase belts have other dimensions than the longcase belts.

241.707 and 241.727 is the ref number for the Variator basic set only. You get the Variator, torque spring, evo slider torsion control thing, 2 sets of rollers and that's it. I don't know the ref number for the large set that includes the belt and drive face. Here the link to the Polini product site. Click on the Ricambi/Parts pdf link below and scroll down most bottom to see the new 241.727 set then a bit higher search for 241.707 and you can see the parts from that set. I am not sure if there even exist a Hi-Speed Evolution set with belt. The only complete set I was able to find contains the smaller Variator with 16x13 roller weights. The Polini Manual says that they recommend the use of the Evolution Belt but the belt seems to be a bit too short. Polini Kevlar Belt Evolution: 785 | 17.8 | 30Kinda short isn't it? my stock belt is already 796 and the current long one is 803.5 and it doesn't reach the outer edge on the rear pulley. I think at the end it doesn't really matter what belt maker you use as long it is what you need.

The shorter belts are for the longcase engines. Did you know they use shorter belts than the shortcase minarellis!? Pretty weird but it's true

Here new pics and Info regarding the Evo variator. I needed to do some testing regarding my low max. rpms and I thought I might as well mark the variator and go for a run. Here the results. This is with a long belt, size 803.5mm/16.6mm and 6x 3.8g roller weights and stock clutch. As you can see it doesn't reach the outer edge, around 10mm left. So either you need an over range belt or my setup is not good enough to push the belt out. Did test runs with and without the Polini torque spring. Make sure you have another spare stock part of this collar because once that torsion control or Evo slider is in place you can barely get it out there. Or you need a carpet knife to lift it out of there.

Forgot to mention one more thing. You cannot use the stock front face with it. There is just not enough space on the crank. Even though the manual says you can it doesn't fit. There are no splines left to fit the woodruff key. You either have to shave down the stock face so that the inset part becomes flush or you have to use an after market type with already shaved inner area. I think Brent has a tutorial somewhere where he shows how to modify the face. I used an after market face that I had, you can see it in the video that I posted previously in this thread.

Finally I received my Digital Scale today. (max. 200g / 0.01g) It was very cheap ($6.54) and it does work very good. Very satisfied with it for a china product. Now I can start to modify my 19x15.5 roller weights.

Today I modified the spare 3.8g roller set with aluminum foil like clank did. I went from 3.8 to 4.7 that is a total plus of 5.4g (22.8g -> 28.2g) I just hope that the aluminum foil stays inside the rollers during the test drive. *fingerscrossed* Should I add some Motoseal or something similar to keep the foil from falling out?

Two days ago I bought Malossi 19x15.5 | 6x7.5g roller weights. So I mixed the rollers and installed the OR variator with 3x3.8g + 3x7.5g = 33.9g and my longest belt (803.5mm | 16.6mm). I read somewhere that a variator with 19x15.5 rollers shifts smoother through the gears and I know now what that actually means. Very nice shifting, nice steady acceleration and response is good. Do to some other technical reason I am not able to reach above 8000-8200rpms. Max speed I reached was 74km/h. I marked the variator face and after a 15min ride the markings were complete gone so the belt travels all the way up to the outer edge. With the Polini OR Variator it doesn't matter anymore if you have straight torque driver grooves or not it drives smooth with or without straight grooves. No images this time, sorry. But I will keep the variator installed and drive it for a while to see how it behaves in daily traffic. I also want to get more rollers to do some more testing.
