I have a bunch of brand new 6mm bolts that are great but somehow I had no 6mm nuts or washers left. so I bought a pack from McMaster-Carr I now have 100 of each. I bought the flange washers because Piaggio seems to like those. I now have enough exhaust and head nuts to last for many builds.

One would think that after nearly 40 years of metric use in this country that metric fasteners would be more available and cheaper in the US.... I liked the conversion process we were going through back in 1976? I was getting real used to the metric system but then the AARP put a stop to it. I guess the AARP thought that old people were stupid. I will never forgive the AARP for doing that. It hurt this country very badly.

It's mad I live in a city but no good place to buy bolts and nuts here. It's mainly building sized stuff. Where I used to live we had a tool shop. They sold every sort of bolt imaginable. Even choices of different strength, or stainless.

Today I bought loads of odd's and sods for the cut down, infact I doubled up on some gaskets. Found a shop in Pompy called allstyles scooters most parts a damn sight cheaper than eBay. Unfortunately our local scooter shop 50 miles away doesn't have a very good website and you have to phone them which I usually do but just needed a one place stop today so I can proceed next week before covid vaccination and back to work.

Even choices of different strength, or stainless. We are very lucky in Lampeter you can buy individual nuts and bolts like ba sizes and 7mm which are common on vespa ps and lml's. The other hardware shop across the town had a really big rack of every size and length coach bolts and nuts. Very useful for bodging the car back together when I trash it. Not so now its changed hands. Last time I stoved the car had to buy dainty little overpriced packs.

Bubble packs of hardware were the death knell for the real hardware store. All they have in those plastic bubble packs are the most common sizes and usually crappy low strength junk. Now I still have one real hardware store that offers those bubble packs for idiots AND loose fastener hardware of close to every size and strength or by the box. They also have plumbing parts in cast iron, steel, copper, brass, galvanized, plain steel(black), stainless, PVC, CPVC, ABS, PEX, etc etc.... Good old Strasser Hardware. They don't have absolutely everything but there are specialty distributors around that do since KC is a big industrial base town. Some don't allow the public to enter or buy from them but I do have accounts at some of them from the old days and they will still sell to me. Often all it takes is some research to know exactly what you want, the real name, size, and description for it, even a part number, and the big distributors will sell at the will-call desk next to the loading dock.

Today was functional chaos day. As some of you may have read in another post I have shoved all my tools and oils over garage as it is all in one place then. I was going to get it all done today but the rat scooter I sold beckoned me to sort it's carb. Oh well tomorrow is another day. 😀

Hmmm, do 2T pistons always look like they are several mm undersize in the bore? It looks like you have a big gap all around or is it some optical illusion? Hi im pete 130 but been away from so long cant log into old account its just the angel it runs nearly 225psi so seals great lol
