Well I bought a bbk from stg and the airsal piston... This has me worried it will hit the valves after reading this forum. Clank verified that that is the case. I think you can take Clanks word for it. Most likely it'll take some valve clearance work to get this piston to work. I decided to leave my fantastic running "100cc" motor alone and build another motor instead. As soon I get to the part of clearancing the valves I'll post up my information on what it took. I'm sure it'll be nothing more than Clank and others already described. Just need to find some time. But I've also been playing around with idea of fabbing some adapters to fit a 150 in it. Just for giggles.

I don't know what all the differences are between all the heads, but in my case with the big valve head from 02starrider The clearance was so good with just the thin gasket ( I used the clay method) That I didn't even bother putting my calipers on the clay. So There is more on the table at least in my application. After I do all my CVT stuff and I get bored with it I may just try deleting the head gasket.

If you still have a base gasket, I'd try removing it first or using one of a different thickness. The base gasket isn't trying to seal engine compression like the head gasket is. I used the same stuff that I use on 2T cases to seal the base on my 150, ThreeBond 1194. It's nasty sticky stuff that's hard to clean up, but I trust it more than most stuff I've used. Permatex Motoseal gets high marks as well and probably is available at a local parts store.

Yeah when I revisit this I may end up doing the glass plane wetsand on the head depending on squish. Easiest is the base gasket but it was only a thin paper to begin with.

I have the same piston but with the stroker crankshaft and im hearing the valve hit the piston at only higher rpms not at low rpms. My thoughts on this is that its valve float and needs titanium valve springs. Man, sorry to see that. What RPM's are you running when that occurs? How was the power and torque SANS the valve problem? Well it's not all stock. Everything on the engine has been upgraded excepted for the head. The cvt is where most of my stock parts are at. I was losing power around 30mph-35mph slowly could get it to 50mph but could only do it slowly. If I floor it and give it all she had is where the nose came on could give it less then helf but anything higher it was all nose in the cylinder. With that being said around 7,400rpm small amount of nose 8,000rpm 8,400rpm no more power lost of nose. No nose tell 7,400 and that's on my build and not other scooter's. It's if you make a lot of power like me then you worry. Stock value spring can only handle so much power and then value flot happened. Last build did do 61mph this one that is being built now has way more power for what I did differently. Exhust is bigger intake is bigger carb is bigger stroker crank and high compression piston.

Ok well I have my crank installed and the airsal piston in place. I had plenty of clearance for the valves only using the standard thin gaskets. Hello. Thou it is a long time since your last post, do you remember the size of your valves?

I was checking that piston out for my 50cc scooter. How's the performance from the piston? Did you have to change your valve clearance to compensate for the dome height? I have the big valve head and A9 cam. It's got over 3000 miles on the BBK I installed. Time for a rebuild!! I get about 43 mph flat ground I weigh 200lbs. My son got 50mph he's about 150lbs.49/17 final.
