Looking rather crusty that Rob. Gas tanks have never been my favourite to work with.

milly , some aluminuminum flashing, bondo, zip ties, and duct tape will fix that.
A wire brush, bubble gum, and flat black paint will fix the gas tank. Avoid pissing on the gas tank in future.

Is the main body of that tank plastic or metal?
My Ford Ranger tank was plastic and the metal sender unit corroded almost the same way. In my case it was ethanol gas that went bad, shit was 'growing' in it, and the acid produced ate up the fuel pump -gone- and metal parts inside the tank. I have not fixed it 100% yet. The tank is now clean and I have a new sender unit ready to install but I have no idea if the external lines to the engine, regulator, and injectors are OK. Pickups are hell to work on gas tanks. Either one must remove the bed/box, or drop the tank like you did. The Ranger had the bed removed for other reasons so it was easy at the time. Scoots with plastics are hard to work on also but the parts are much cheaper and lighter to handle.

The body of the tank is plastic, but the lock ring and tabs are plain steel. My Mercedes had access holes in the floor so you could get to the pump.

A lot of cars have holes in the floor or under seats for gas tank sender access but pickups I have worked on did not have access. My scoot had access under the plastic floor covering and an external fuel pump. Keep those bed bolts covered with anti-seize.

Slowly getting daughter's car together today will finish it in the morning. This evening I am babysitting the 3 grandkids. So far we have turned all the pictures upside down what we can and rearanged the kitchen cupboards and put all the saucepans in the washing machine. What to do next.
I did send a picture saying they are behaving but Katie said by their appearance they are not.

Today I worked on getting use to my hearing aids, something I have never had before. Thought my car sounded ok till I drove back home from the hospital. It makes lots of noises and now wonder Yolanda said she knew when I got home as the radio was the first thing I turned down and the strange scuffing noise turned out to be my hands on the steering wheel. I also didn't realise those card reader machine's made such a large ping and paper is very noisy too.

Hearing aids are a plot by wives and others to make sure you listen to them instead of tuning them out which is a natural 'right' of all old men. Smash the insidious devices before you are enslaved.
On the other hand I wish I could get hearing aids sometimes. I have been told many times that hearing aids would be worthless for me because no amount of amplification will help if a person is completely deaf at certain frequencies. Maybe someday they will have frequency shifting hearing aids. I could wear them because I have no women around to try to enslave me. On the other hand silence is golden except for the tinnitus which is all I hear 24/7...

Milly, please be careful not to let your lovely and highly respectable wife learn of your 'accidentally' missing hearing aids. All wives know about lockable remote electric dog training collars.

Today I started to see how the mobility scooter would fit in car and needs a bit of fine tuning but a strange thing happened, I not been that good lately with bugs going around and maybe pushing myself to hard been sleeping quite a bit lately as well when get chance. Today I came in to the bungalow and for the life of me couldn't work out what the heck I was doing for a good minute or so Yolanda told me to stop working so put it all away. I felt really tired and slept for a good 3 hours. I can only describe it as coming to a cross roads knowing exactly which way to go but not being able to remember. Yolanda said it's what she calls brain fog. Worrying.

Oh my Milly. Hope it’s just a passing virus.
I had imbibed a bit much Thursday night and Friday morning felt quite iffy. Had to lay down twice after first rising. Hot flashes, felt dizzy, was very pale. My Mrs told me to stay home from work. Told her nothing doing. My own fault for being intoxicated but that was worn off in the morning. The stumble and damn near not making it to bed to lay down before I fell down was troubling. No sign since then so 🤷♂️?
