Chinese Aluminium really sucks. You can make it yourself, just collect a bunch of empties and hammer them into a mold.

Cortisone shot in my swollen big toe... probably the worst pain I’ve felt. Surprised that I can stand without pain for the first time in 2.5 weeks. My life working is starting to catch up with me. Yeah I’m stubborn don’t do drs unless I really need to.

Lawn mowers. Air filter, oil filter, oil change and plugs on 2 riders. Replaced 4 deck wheels and hardware between the two. Looked down while doing the oil change on the older one and realized there was nothing holding one front wheel on. Bearings are shot on the front. Luckily I had 2 around so I did one on each side for now so it doesn't look like I'm trying to join the camber gang.

Front and rear pads and rotors on my Tundra. Rears were fun due to the psb that needs to be tended to regarding rear bearing mounts. Replacement rotors were making contact with splash shield so a little hammer persuasion was required. Psb parts are $260 side, I own plenty of hammers... Now I need to remember no more burnouts so I don’t destroy the rotors again, yeah right!

Came across this one yesterday on a service call after a bad storm. I have been doing HVAC work for a long time and have seen it this bad a few times, but there is a twist with this one. This is an electrical disconnect for the outdoor AC condenser. It clearly took a voltage surge, highly likely lightning inspired. I turned off the breaker at the main panel that feeds it and replaced it. So with the breaker in the house still off and the pull removed from the disconnect I just replaced, I began checking over the outdoor unit. I started pulling wires off the contactor to check various parts and got zapped (shocked) pretty good. How is that possible? It took a while but I finally realized that electricity was somehow energizing the unit through the copper line-set that goes to the indoor air handler. The indoor Air handler still worked and after removing power from it, the outdoor unit still had voltage on it! I told them to call an electrician. The outdoor unit is toast so we will likely be replacing the entire system sometime this week.

That’s a nice one! I get plenty of generator controls smoked like that from surges. Improper wiring of receptacles will cause back feed issues swapping grounds and neutrals, broken wires, loose wires on back stabbed receptacles, also heating elements ie: electric dryer, stove top, etc can have it swap to the other side of the panel. Fun stuff...

Changed oil in bike. Drain plug with screen, another underside screen plug, main oil filter on the right side, separate oil filler cap... with nothing less than a 4mm allen, 8mm socket, 10mm socket, 13mm socket, 18mm socket, and a couple of dental tools/hammer to snag the filter out. Not to mention obligatory engine love & wipe down that no one else would do if I paid them to change the oil. Quite the intricate oil change - you'd think it were Italian engineered, tho Austria (KTM) does share a common border.

This doesn't quite fit here or any other thread, but I'll put it here anyway. Now tropical storm Isaias is passing through today. The eye just passed directly over us. I haven't been paying much attention to the news other than all of the tornado warnings. I saw it calm outside and decided to take the trash to the dump real quick. By the time I was in the truck the winds and rain picked back up. On the way home I had a telephone pole blow over right in front of me. I floored it to try to beat it and did. Luckily it was caught by the power lines and didn't crash all the way into the road. Went to get a phone and call that in and realized I'm just 1/2 mile from the fire department that would respond anyway.
The 1 red light in town went out. Branches almost all the way across the road right by my house. I didn't think this was going to do much here, but it was enough to be exciting for a moment for me.
More related to the topic of this thread; I'm going to predict the future and say I will probably work on some fallen limbs and trees in the coming days.

Had to take hardware for my project out to Boston for certification testing. Left yesterday, drove home today. Bee-Aye-You-Ti-Fool driving, aside from the folk that do the speed limit...pffff so glad I didn't get a ticket or thrown in jail. On the way back, took Route 9 up into New Hampshire, Vermont, and back into New York [State]. Topless sunburn on the ol' head, just after zero-buzzing the scalp. No mug shot to capture that fact! Cager! Look out!
