Did more on the seat by forgot to take progress pics. I was on a roll. This is the pvc being clamped to the frame to set the bend. This is the heating rig I made about 6 years ago to bend pvc, abs and plexi. 4 foot long and 3.5 inch wide heating area. I also marked and drilled holes while it clamped so everything would line up later then cut to the outline of the alum frame. PVC makes a huge mess when you cut it but its so easy to cut. I need to order a bag of 1/4-20 nutserts, my tool only came with 6 and I used one to test but I drilled a good 20ish holes. I also mocked things up to see how well everything is going together. Ignore the black thing holding the front of the seat up. The seat will sit about 30 inches from the ground. Final ride height isn't set yet but I suspect it will go up an inch or two. and it might have to get pushed back. Wont really know until I try to sit on it. Bars on it wont be staying either those will get changed out to a straight bar eventually.

Nut certs set in their holes with a dab of 2 part epoxy. All I need to secure the seat together was around the parimiter. The ones set inboard will be used to hang things like electrical bits. Pre crush it just juts out and after it flush. Had a blow out and a crack. Fixed both with the same 2 part I used to hold the certs in.

Tomorrow I'll be moving it from the table to the floor and get closer to the seat being done. Pics to come.

Well this is embarrassing. The back needs to be hacked off and redone. Really not a drastic thing, all cosmetic. I do believe I put the fork on backwards.

Cut the back off today and tried to figure where it all went wrong. I came up with a few issues. One is that the frame from the factory was off. I now fully understand why its so hard to get seat buckets to line up. The other ones are my fault for not realizing the tire centre line and pivot attachment centre line were an inch off, A modification to the motor mount is needed to fix that. And when I added the back section on I just did a horrid job. The frame being off I'll just have to deal with and adjust some angles. Ordered some more metal tube both for the frame and the handle bars. Bought on of these too... www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200422331_200422331It turns an angle grinder into a mini chop saw. It has potential but needs some upgrades. The pivot point has tonnes of play in its plastic bushing , the end caps are plastic and the bolts have non symmetric heads on them making it impossible to get a proper wrench on them. Other than that the design is pretty good. Not relying on crooked hand cuts with a sawzall should make things easier to line up straight.

www.taotao.us/index.cfm/scooters/racer501/I'm seriously thinking of doing the shock like on this tao tao bike. I could move the tank back and have the shockmount under the seat and then straight forward to the up right.

Build is back on. After taking my vacation time to work on the scooter over the holidays I ended up sick for most of it and never touched it. Yesterday the weld in shock brackets showed up so I decided to really work on it this weekend. Went into the garage around 11 opened the door at 1 and there is an inch of snow on the ground. I did manage to mock up everything to re position the engine mount.

So 2 fridays ago I had a small heart malfunction that lead to a serious arrhythmia. Two rounds of cardioversion later and the beat is back to steady but there was some bruising of the heart muscle. Build will be very slow for the foreseeable future.
Dont get old.

So this happened over the week end. I got tired of trying to chase down angles on a china frame and decided to just back half it with a ladder frame graphed to to the old frame. It follows the planes of the mount I made. Would have done more but ran out of gas.

Gussets Did the tops and under side where the frames come together. Gonna add more on the bottom. Lost about a 1/2 hour of time when I ran out of wire and had to swap the roll from 220v ( that never gets used ) to the 110v machine. Also plated the square tube to the round tube on both sides. The tubs are welded to each other under those plates. Shock mounts, Getting a matching set of shocks friday is what made this push possible. It was a major road block but now I know everything is straight that needs to be straight. May add another brace from the shock mount area to the motor mount. Have to see what kind of room I have.
