The new cylinder and piston came in a few days ago and I had time this morning to put it in. Off came most of the plastic, the oil reservoir that sits over the cylinder and the cooling shroud. I decided to put a 50cc cylinder in because the little I've ridden it feels a little squirrely, the 10" wheels and short wheel base don't help. The big tires do tend to smooth out potholes. Maybe if I get more comfortable but for now its staying 50cc. I pulled the cylinder and yes it had a soft seize:
It was my fault I should have honed the cylinder more so the piston would fit but my hone was wearing down and I thought it would be okay. I also should have gotten a new cylinder and piston as a kit to avoid the problem. I chamfered the ports on the new cylinder and it felt good. Its a nice clean kit made by TNT, Scoot-tuning says its from Taiwan. Here is a picture:
I had to file the rings to get the correct gap. The whole thing went together well, I used copper spray on the base gasket. The head gasket was copper but I sprayed it anyway. I bolted it all down and checked squish and my 3mm solder had nothing. So much for the nice copper head gasket I used copper spray directly on the head and put it together. I then had 1.5mm for my squish. Is this okay or do I need to shave something off of the head? I checked compression and got 160psi so I figured I was okay. Did a leak down test and all was good there the copper spray was doing its job. Hooked everything back up and it started on the second kick. It sounds good, better then when it had the scored beat up piston in it. I had to get ready for work so I'll take it for a few runs tomorrow and see how my lean condition is doing.

I had some time this morning and got the cooling shrouds on and it started first kick. The RPM jumped to 3500 I let it run there and after a few minutes it dropped to 2000. Hmmm, I then let it warm up and took it for a ride. I'm still not seeing why everyone thinks these are so great. When I would come to a stop the RPM's were slow to fall. The main jet and needle all feel okay, they might need a little tweaking but okay for a stock scoot. I got it home and adjusted the A/F mixture. It no longer surges like it used to but clearly its leaking air someplace. I tried replacing the carburetor flanges o-ring with a gasket. I started it up and once again the engine went to 3500rpm and after a few minutes it fell. I felt the enricher before I started and it was cool, the RPM's dropped as the enricher got warm. Here is my thought on my problem. The enricher has a leak and when it closes it also closes off most of the air getting. Even closed it still allows some of the air to get in. I've reseated it several times and have it as tight as it will go. I think the next step will be a new carb because I don't think that's the only leak. Does anyone have any thoughts or solutions? Does anyone know if this manual choke will fit a Keihin carb, if not does anyone know where I can find one. Maybe the best solution would be to just get a new carb for it.
I also installed the rear turn signals I bought and nothing. I need to chase down the wiring and see where the problem is. I guess I'll move it to the back of the garage for now.

I got the enricher to seal better. . Its still a one kick start and idles well. I put 6gram rollers in, thats 1.5 grams below stock. I took it for a ride and I think it needs some CVT tuning and the RPM's are still hanging when I come to a stop. I have a manual choke on order from PFS and I hope it solves it. I'm still not wild about the ride, I sit way high and maybe its the bald knobby tire but it handles way too squirrelly. The Pink scoot is far more stable. I think I'll get the manual choke in and see if that solves it and put it up for sale. If I do sell it I'll post it here first.

I decided that the Roughhouse wasn't going to kick my butt. I went over it and tightened everything that had vacuum involved with it. Started it up let it warm up adjusted the A/F mixture and it sounds like the hanging idle is gone. Took it for a ride, I'm still no fan. Its got no pick up I did get it up to about 40 and the ride was okay but still not great. I let my neighbor who's a scooter nut and has a Sym PCH 4 poke take it for a ride. He came back raving about the power and the ride being so smooth. Maybe it needs some CVT tuning and the new tires. I'll ride it this next week and see what I want to do with it. He wants to buy it but can't afford it. Ill see next week how I feel.
