95mph right into the side of another car, killing the 2 teen occupants.
WHY doesnt this PIG have the bar lights on? S/HE IS NOT EVEN ON A CALL. I am getting really sick of seeing stories where the pig kills someone (or more than one) and walks off with a BS charge or no charge at all. If it was one of us, we would have been sent up the #$%^& river!!

Can't tell from the black and white, but if the lights were red, yes the cop was at fault, if yellow, then equal parts in this case. We had a local teen killed when a veteran cop sped through a red light, again not on a call, and crashed into a 16 year old going straight through the green. There was some minor uproar, and yes a slap on the wrist. Living by a busy intersection I see it all the time, the cops flash and woop their way through the lights all the time, then slow back down to cruising speed. Like any other person on any job, a cop can be good or bad. Catagorizing them all as pigs is uncalled for.

The kids in the car were at fault. I mean they should have seen that cop car coming but they turned right into him. Hell, there was TWO cops coming. It's another example of an inexperienced driver IMO. I don't know about the rest of you but I can spot a cop from a looooong ways off.
Even though I'm not too fond of police in general I agree that calling them PIGS isn't right. Some of them are cool and some would risk their life to save you from a burning wreck.

More info... www.wtnh.com/dpp/news/crime/Cop-was-going-94mph-at-time-of-orange-crashIMO it's a dual fault collision, but I'd put more fault on the officer. I will NEVER defend drunk driving, but they don't know the BAC of the driver, who knows if that will be accurate either given it's a cop involved (sorry, I don't trust the system). Drunk or sober, I bet you wouldn't expect a cop with his lights off or any other car to be doing 95MPH in a 40MPH zone according to the sign in the vid. The cop with the cam was even doing 70MPH. Judging speed, especially at night, can be quite difficult. Look at where they were hit. Imagine that the officer was on;y doing 70MPH, even speeding that much they would have cleared the intersection.

Seldom is any traffic accident wholly one party's fault. Probably 95% of all accidents are avoidable if defensive driving is practiced 100% of the time. Unfortunately 100% defensive driving is not possible because of distractions and impairments (whether by substance use, lack of sleep, tiredness, etc.). The civilians killed could have just as well have been an elderly couple driving home from the airport at that time of night. I'm accessing at least 75% of the blame on the cop in this situation. The arraigning judge must have felt there could have been a reasonable chance of flight for the cop. $250,000 bail is pretty steep but I'm no sort of legal expert by any means.

you know when i read the article i find one thing odd they say the teens had a flashing red light but yet all lights on the officers side are flashing at the same middle spot so why would the lane going towards them have anything diffrent
and honestly as far away when the kids start to turn the cop car was i proably would have ended up turinging infront of that car also come on the speed limit was 40 mph even at 50 or 60 mph they should have had plenty of time to make the turn
what gets me is the fact that it took 5 months to suspend the cop with pay and another month to fire him
honestly there was no reason at all that the dept could not suspend him with pay right away and start there review and termiante him for violating the dept policies and traffic laws

"It may appear that the Anderson vehicle is not traveling at that high a rate of speed… but that’s not true because to get a true perspective of the vehicle going in excess of 90 mph, you have to be outside of the vehicle going 70 mph," Attorney John Wynne, who represents Krakowski's father, said.
Exactly, a car traveling THAT FAST looks like you will have enough time to turn before it gets to you. Speed can be hard to judge at first glance, especially when you are inexperienced. When the kid driving the car first saw this cop, the kid had plenty of distance from the cop to make the turn. The closure rate of the cop was so fast that they both ended up in the same place at the same time. NO lights, NO siren. COPS FAULT 100% and this person should be in prison.

I have watched this video over and over. The first light in front of the camera car switches from green to yellow at :05. the camera car passes under this yellow at :08. his speed is 70mph. This says to me that it was probably red when the killers car got to it because the killers car is still behind the camera car at this point. Yellow means prepare to stop, Red means STOP. The 2nd light and 3rd light is flashing yellow. Flashing yellow means CAUTION SLOW DOWN. Also the killer passed another car on the right which in that state is illegal (passed the camera car). 25 years ago when I was 15 I was taught to slow and pull to the right when I see blue/red lights and/or hear sirens either behind me or in front of me. We cannot tell if there is a siren because there is no audio but it is reasonable to assume that no bar lights means no siren too.
Killer cops fault 100% in my view.

The only reason I say it's partially the other driver's fault is that he did have the opportunity not to go. I think a lot of folks would be dead in the same situation, drunk, sober, etc... though. I've pulled out of my driveway before and had to gun it not to get run over by speeding traffic and then other times I've realized someone was going pretty fast and waited. Just saying the opportunity is there to make the proper decision, but that can be damn hard to do... as I said earlier and as others pointed out at night and with a car doing 70MPH beside it to throw off your reference. I think the cop is 100% wrong, but not 100% at fault if that makes any sense.
Regardless, I'm tired of seeing cops hit people and get reduced charges compared to what the average citizen would receive.

Exactly. If the officer had been driving as he should have, it would not have happened, and such careless use of power should be punished, as any other thoughtless driver that kills someone. However, the inexperience of the kids may have contributed to the judgement of the speed of the oncoming car, maybe.

You get arrested if your car is on the tracks? I figured the punishment was pointing and laughing and having your car smashed on the local news.
