I recently ordered some replacement crank bearings for a 70cc, piped minarelli I was working on. I got the bearings today and this is weird. The bearings are sealed on both sides (left bearing). The steel balls aren't exposed like the bearing on the right. They have 6204RZ on them. I suppose that being 6204 bearings everything will be fine. I always wondered about using sealed bearings to reduce friction but I've never seen it applied before. Should I use them or return them? Attachments:

You should be able to remove the seal's, they're only rubber.

Would running sealed bearings be better for a 2T since the mixture has two less parts to lubricate?

inside they are packed with grease you will need to wash them out. i have popped the seals off and repacked them and then replaced the seals for certain applications. if you have a local bearing house it might be worth a visit to see if they have a higher precision bearing, what you got there looks like a wheel bearing.

I bought ceramic bearings for one of my engines and I could get them cheaper with rubber seals. Popped out the seals and installed them. The bearings are lubed by the oil mixed in with the intake charge, so you definitely don't want them sealed.
