ok my stoopid azz dumped premix in my tank now scoot is running craptacularly. started off as a low speed miss "i figured to much oil in mix combination of premix plus self mix" worked itself out but later backfired while riding then died . restarted on first kick next 2 times it died. very erratic idle sometimes it responds to idle speed adjustment other times it doesnt. also id love to eliminate the oil tank. is there a post here showing steps required to do so? im also not sure if i can reuse stock mixer carb. if i do eliminate tank and related parts will i need a different carb?.
my kid rode it most of the afternoon yesterday putting almost 30 miles on it. also used multimeter and charging system is dead shows 0 volts at idle and while under throttle..

ty for the info. i do prefer using a premix as i know exactly how much oil is being introduced into the engine. right now its smoking intermittently. even with the premix i foolishly added. these carbs are very touchy it seems. also from reading various build threads here i see they do take kindly to being heavily modded. i will most likely keep this relatively stock for reliability. but will try to tune to get most out of combination. before it started running bad with 2 riders it will do 35mph on a flat in 1/2 a city block. is this good for a stock 49cc? draining tank right now will clean carb again and add fresh fuel later. ill need a puller for disassembling the oil pump great link 90gt i appreciate it

35 in that distance with 2 riders is good.

wet weight advertised is near 300 lbs for the scoot. i weigh 160lbs my kid weighs 70lbs combined weight of just over 500lbs. i did manage to get it looking more sporty by trimming ugly big rear fender, removed the screw on reflectors, and luggage rack as well. i do like the clean look you all achieve removing oil tank and other misc. unneeded parts. very informative link for removing oil pump and related items.
thanx again

Isn't your scoot the one that looks like a Vento Zip basically? I don't even think the larger Tritons in stock trim, wet, would weigh out to near 300. They are supposed to be 210 stock, dry, which I think is about right. 1.4 gallons of fuel, a quart of 2T oil, gear oil, and brake fluid can't weigh that much. Regardless, whatever it weighs now... it'll be less soon. lol

ok incorrect plug boot was causing a misfire. so i stole one off a honda 125 thats needing a head running great now . i really dislike buying used equipment for this reason. incorrect plug/boot. i couldve been riding a week ago had i found this earlier also brake light stays on headlight gets brighter with increased rpm's. i havent started taking anything off yet . still trying to optimize current combination. might see 40 mph again on stock speedo lol. anyway problem solved. i see a 70cc bbk in my future

If the plug is too hot it won't show much color on most of the insulator. You would need to look at the mixture ring, down at the bottom of the insulator, and go by feel.

ok im thinking of doing a low buck budget build. tell me what you guys think? big bore jug+piston+reusing stock head carb exhaust. i need to get a few specialty tools as well. im considering this for future use on my kids go kart buggy frame i built from chro moly tubing using atv drive out of trans case. later upgrading scoot to 90cc crate engine with better stuff. ie carb exhaust. probly not the correct place to post this just wanted som thoughts on if this is a good idea for a very low buck build

I would suggest including the appropriate head. These 2Ts are not as forgiving as their 4T brothers. You don't wanna push compression too much or you might be pushing the scooter home. :scared: I sent you a bunch of info in reply to the PM you sent.
I like the kart idea. Would be cool to see.

ty for the input im thinking iron jug/head. will disassemble engine first to mic piston pin so i can order correct part. i think with the cvt drive the offroad abilities would be pretty not bad. we built a mini hardtail using 2 stroke snowblower engine with a torq a verter similar in theory to a cvt .it did 37 mph being followed in friends car to measure speed with a centrifugal clutch driver. this buggy project has been ongoing first using 5 hp briggs then 8 hp briggs etc. im thinking a 70 cc tuned properly should make it buggy pretty well lol. ty again im looking at links you sent in pm now. looks like the 90 far exceeds upgrading the 49 at any costs
