Why no electrical pump? You remove friction in the system. Mechanical pumps feed off engine power, LOSS OF POWAH

I realize that it's sucking power from the motor, but it's not like I'm ever going to race it. And with this I'll be able to ride for a much longer time if the need arises. That, and not everyone has this.

I agree with drc174 that the electric pump is better for more all out power but the damn the setup looks trick.

One of these days I'll disconnect it and run an electric pump so that I can see if there's a big difference. I'll do it all official like with numbers and all that. The Piaggio motor runs an internal pump and we don't give it a second thought.

I mean I am just nitpicking here, the thing looks dope.

I have to say I never noticed a difference when running a electric pump and when I switched back to a mechanical pump. Same top speed, same acceleration, same idle. On my Malossi cast. I think it's a fractional difference in HP. Somewhere I read spinning a normal flywheel at 9,000 uses under a 1/10 hp. So it's probably along those lines. You may see a difference on a dyno but not seat of the pants.

The amount of power either system uses is likely even closer to being the same than we think. With the electric pump if you use a charging coil to recharge the battery that powers the pump, you loose HP. Nothings free.

Yup. Actually, if anything the electric pump would require more power overall due to the additional energy conversion steps involved, over a straight-up mechanical drive (i.e. - mechanical>electrical>chemical>electro-mechanical). Unless you're running a non-charging, "sacrificial" total-loss battery, anyway. Like oldgeek said... nothing's free.

Man that motor is nice looking, cant wait till it all comes together! What plans you have for the jog? Paint etc...

Inner rotors dont supply that kind of power anyway. Reminds me of my hillbilly brake lights...
