The thing with a hyper race is, it'll do 50mph at a quarter throttle. So if your riding it on the streets it has to be tuned fat. Cause a quarter throttle is still 10,000+ rpm. They have to be tuned for WOT and anything less is rich or you'll burn it down. I was following some links from 190mech. It was about race bikes and they were dead reliable wfo but because of part throttle revision they would melt down in seconds at part throttle unless pig rich on needle and pilot This is exactly what I found happening with my build. With the pilot and needle set spot on I would get crazy temp swings. I would constantly have to keep my eye on the temp gauges. And the weather where I live is all over the place making it even more of a bitch to keep the motor alive. It was getting stressful just to ride the dam thing lol.

PIG, You still want to buy this pipe? Do ya mind if I carve a hole in it? Band clamp type EGT probes only require an 1/8" hole.. www.aircraftspruce.com/search/search.php?s=egt+probe&x=0&y=0PS,If you read that section in Jennings book, his answer to smooth carb jetting is to install a 'lesser' pipe and bump up the compression...OOOKAAAY....You hyper race guys get a Technigas on order now!!!

I want to install the egt probe, but I gotsta put a hole in the pipe to do it. I'll have the bung welded on so that it can be plugged later with a screw in plug. Just remember that when the motor starts to detonate the egt actually goes down. Don't remember why exactly. Egt,water temp and head (under plug temp)would make a nice tuning /safety setup

You've got it running great and staying alive on the streets without it. I personally wouldn't want that probe sticking out of the side of my pipe. If I was racing it and needed every last drop of power sure. But for what we do, nah.

I think a CHT and water temps are good to start with and actually a must have, especially in the class you guys are riding. I agree with PIG on the EGT, that thing is gonna look frigging ugly sticking out there.

It went to 143 for a bit after I shut it down. So, I guess since I won't be keeping this pipe and she seems to be running okay, then I'll wait until I switch to the new pipe to use the EGT.

The EGT will be put into the pipe in such a way as to (mostly) hide it from view.

I don't know how fast she went, but I think it was pretty damn fast.
