If you read this thread, you will see what I had to deal with a larger exhaust. I had to deal with no power down low till I tuned the variator and clutch to get the engine in the 6500 rpm range to get get things to work right.

Yes, I realize all that, but would the added noise (We all know louder=cooler, to an extent) cause any performance drawbacks? The pre 86 stock pipes are pretty damn restrictive from what I've read. Not like these things had much power to begin with anyway, with a 36MPH top speed. My guess in my previous post, you will loose low end torque and chances are you will never be able to take off because the engine will be bogging. Less restriction on the exhaust(drilling holes) will effect the scavenging effect. The things you have done in the past on your 4 stroke projects will not work the same way you might think on a 2 stroke. You can always drill away and see what happens.
