Gee, I spent an hour getting rust off my exhaust and all I needed was a laser that costs as much as my Jeep ")

Sweet. Wonder if you could take paint off with it. Paint, no problem. Pencil marks on paper, no problem.

I have a big block of acrylic, Peterbilt gave it to my father in law, it has a 3d laser etched "sculpture" in the center of it, the lasers are so accurate they can literally burn a specific point in 3d space within 100ths of an inch to create the image inside the block.

Oddly, it was because of encounter with a radial arm saw that relegated my right hand to a visually correct but non-functional status. A laser would have least cauterized the wound...

I think that unit would be something best used by a shop that uses it every day. I notice it uses an infrared beam. I wonder what type of eye protection is needed.

couple hundred thousand or so No worries.....I just need to figure out how many $4.00 laser pointers I will need to get that kind of total output and bundle them. It works for Flo. Even 1000 of them would only be about $4,000.

Not laser pointer.
You get old DVD BURNERS and use those lasers Get hundred or so, and the apertures required to hold and focus the beams. A single DVD burner laser will start a piece if writing paper on fire if you focus it good enough. Google it.

Blu-ray lasers are even better. I think if you had a few of those and then, hooked up some long wire to a tall tree during a lightning storm and once you hit 88 mph...oh wait...never mind.
My guess is that very expensive laser probably has a short life span. I do not see how they could keep it cool enough in that small of a form factor.

It would certainly need some sort of cooling system. Some type if thermal exchange system or something
Like those sealed cooling deals for CPU cooling in high end towers and game compyters. The DVD burner lasers don't draw much power to run at full capacity so maybe they wouldn't get too hot. A DVD burner only has a small small fan, and some don't even have that. But a large group of them would need something for sure
