Here are some pics of a Ruckus-Zuma 2T swap that I just finished (well mostly finished)for my wife.
I bought a recovered theft 2003 Ruckus and a 2008 Zuma from a police auction for $500 The Ruck was all there except the ignition of course was ripped out of it. The Zuma had no plastics or gas tank. But it had a complete motor as well as front end. I didn't get any before shots of either and not much build picks.
My plan was to swap the motor into the Ruckus along with Yamaha Aerox front end and 13" wheels. I wanted to keep the stock Air-box.... Can't stand those barking pod filters. So basically the airbox determined the stretch.I used a Zuma wiring harness along with Zuma50f switchgear (they have longer wires for the open style bars).Battery is mounted down where the fuel pump was and it runs a Mikuni vac pump now.
I wanted to build a Ruckus different than the long and low norm found around my area.... And with a moderately modded 2 smoker for power...
With motor mocked up as well as trial fit of Zuma front end
replated the hardware
back from powdercoat and paint
you might notice that I went with a MOJO mount.... Couldn't stand the rear shock mount so...
made my own
had to trim gusset for airbox so i Completely TIG welded all frame joints and reinforced the inner frame rails
Had to make my own triple tree by using the Ruckus stem with the Zuma tree with welded on steering stops.
The Zuma tree is wider so I either had no turning radius or i had to cut windows in the front battery box
windows it is
Fabbed up an aluminum oil tank that includes the yamaha low oil light sender.
Finished
Machined up some solid plugs for the frame
converted to rear disc brake
as it sits now....
Spiegler gets the nod for the brake hoses... Great company to deal with
I converted the Ruckus Hi-beam and low fuel led's to conventional bulb holders... They are now Hi-beam and low oil lites
