Ive got a 2016 TAOTAO 49cc scooter. I read on here you guys like people to give info about new scoots good/bad. So its all stock ive used GPS on my phone to read correct speeds. I am averaging 38-40 mph flat and uphill 35 strong. But down hill top speed 53 mph so im assuming the newer scoots dont use rev limits on CDI's. Correct me if im wrong. Also ive noticed it has a 19mm carb stock. I have had scots in the past and this one seems very quick and strong on hills and take off. Anyone else noticing this with the newer bikes? Engine code is 1p39qmb. Thx for any info!!

My 2013 has no rev limiter and I don't think TaoTao has been using them. They aren't really as common as some think they are.
You've got a good one to be doing those speeds. Congrats.

I have a 2015 tao tao and it is my nemesis. My 2016 is the p motor, its wonderful. I'm going to my buddies scooter shop tomorrow morning and I will ask him the difference between the two engines. Well I did not make it to shop, raining. Google 1p39qmb. There is a guy who claims this is a 64cc engine.

I've read that the "p motors" have the longer valves. Don't believe the 64cc stuff. There are plenty of P motors than are not 63/64cc. Not to say that none are, but just because it has a p in the engine code doesn't mean that it definitely is.

Depends who you talk to what the P means. Some say the P is the longer (69mm) valves. Some say the P means horizontal.
The letter P on the engine is somewhat of a mystery.
