Long time motorcycle rider but new to the scooter thing. I had heard a lot of bad things about the China scoots but I missed riding and thought I might give one a try. I was just looking for something to ride around town as my road riding days are over for now. I bought a new Tao Tao Thunder and while we are still getting used to each other, I'm quite impressed so far. It arrived in 2 days and was in perfect shape. Spent a bit of time putting it together, changed both oils and charged the battery. It fired right up after a bit of time priming itself. Very pleased with it overall. I love the LED lighting and signals and I'm impressed with the quality especially for the price of right around $700 delivered. Still breaking it in now but so far so good. I've been lurking here for quite some time learning all that I could and you guys have helped me out with lots of good information. Thanks!

Welcome, I'm in misery, l mean Missouri also. Is yours a 49cc. Is it the p coce engine I didn't look for the p code yet, but it is 49cc. I was looking for a low cost way to satisfy my craving for two wheels since I'm retired and on a fixed income. I'm pleasantly surprised by the power it has so far, but still in break-in mode. I can feel it kind of go flat above half throttle so jetting will have to be done. Jets are on the way. The speed limit in my little town is 25/30 mph most places so not much need for raw speed. If I venture out on the local highway it's only 40 through town. I like the LED halo lighting around the headlights and couldn't resist modding the wiring so both headlights are on at the same time. Fun stuff, but today it's raining!

I've sold 2 scooters and 2 motorcycles in the last year and I still have too many! Might be building a much larger work shed soon. like 30 x 30 ish
