hey there! Fellow Canadian living in BC. Sorry I just realized that this section is also for member introductions its very wet right now, I need one of those bug guards on my scooter!! Anyhow , i own a 2009 50cc keeway hurricane aka some other names it goes by.... it sat for about a year before I moved out of "the city" Vancouver, then decided i should probably get this thing running. If I had found this forum when I was trying to get it running again, it would have been loads easier , rather than the trial and error. Eventually I cleaned out the carb and petcock, soaked in pinesol overnight, and wow all the rust and everything just disappeared. My main jet was also clogged. After finally getting it running I decided, hmm how can I make this thing go a bit faster, so I can start riding it again. Because where I live is basically in the mountains and there is only 1 Hwy that leads to everything. If you go somewhere, everyone knows lol it's about 10 minutes to the gas station and 10 minutes in the opposite direction to a small grocery store. But we have A super windey highway, small ups and downs, no major hills or anything, And ONLY ONE PASSING LANE! I don't want to piss off any drivers up here 😜 I've decided to get a BBK, and a bigger jet 😁 We'll see how fast it can take my little 120lb body. I'll post my new setup in a new thread

Welcome to the forum! Great story. It's so flat where I am sheets of paper on the ground seem like hills.
Riding in the rain? No problem. I will not hesitate to go anywhere I need to go on the scooter regardless of the rain. I just wear rain gear and drive carefully and watch behind me at all times.
At 120lbs, your scooter would be fast with even a 47mm BBK (72cc's) LOTS of info here about it.
Put a 47mm BBK and cam in your scoot and tame those hills.
Or....or put a 50mm BBK and cam in it and Conquer those hills.

Welcome aboard.
And if you're a wet weather rider, then you've got my seal of approval. (Your description of your turf sounds awfully inviting, too.)
I guess I wouldn't say that I prefer rain over dry conditions. But I don't let wet weather stop me either. And I don't mind it. It's gratifying.

Hey there! I'm looking into the throttle handle warmers that Brent put on one of his scoots. I don't mind riding in the wet either , since like you said, as long as you bundle up good and have a good protection jacket then you should be fine my Thor gloves work fine but I don't like the little air holes they have on the sides of the finger holes. You can really seek the cold in there. Also the hand cover things are a pretty clever idea 👍 Couple months won't be as much rain, then summer should be golden 😁

A rally would be fun! I assume your doing it on your scoot? I wish we had some type of scoot exhibitions or something. No scoot gangs or events that I know of! Mostly just dirt bikers and ATVrs in these parts. I think if Vancouver was more congested and had better weather ALL year around , people would definitely ride scooters more. They only have a bunch of scooter rental places near beaches and stuff

Just done the Dragon Rally here in Wales UK up mount Snowdon, freezing temperatures, high winds, snow and rain on the way there and when putting up tent. It was not so bad this morning when getting ready to leave just a bit cold and snow flurries but no rain. 200 mile round trip and knees hurt due to low seat height. A lot of people travel to this one from all over places like Norway, Austria, Denmark, Germany, Portugal and Russia. Was one chap whose been going since 1962 he is 85yrs old now. There was some scooters there a Triumph Tina from the 1960's and some early Vespa's and Lambretta's but did not get any pics of those Some pics of scenary and my mate on his Honda CG 125 and a Russian Ural.

I've already started with my family members I know through other forums that there is a huge scooter community in Quebec, Canada. Speaking to them I thought the whole of Canada was littered with cool scoots. Now you say there are hardly any where you live... World view shattered

I think people are too worried about riding in the rain and such. It does rain a lot in the spring. And maybe the fact they assume they go fast enough(I shall prove wrong!) I'm on the west side of Canada too!! I would assume if those Quebecers are riding, then why the hell ain't BRITISH COLUMBIA!!! I know Toronto is covered in snow a lot of the time....hmmm but the traffic too I guess. Ahhh used to love traffic in the city on a scoot. We basically have a few scooter rental places, but there basically for riding around the seawall and the beach downtown Vancouver. People do ride there bikes and such in the summer tho. It seems Canada is getting colder winters and hotter summers......yes yes ramblying onnnnnn

I've already started with my family members Cold it was, but fun. I see you want a side cart for your 3 yr old daughter. One of my daughters wont let me take her daughter on the bikes and scoots but my eldest daughter lets me take my grandaughter and grandson on the back. Infact Taryn wants to help build a bike scoot up with me she is 11 and helps over the garage changing car tyres when she down and her brother but he is a bit more reluctant is Lex. Pics of Taryn and Lex helping me and their mum who very reluctantly went on the back of a bike for the first time this year. Right midnight time for bed

Always nice to have the family in there 🙂 My little one is always watching me when I'm "playing" with my scooter. I took my 9 year old sister with me on my last ride before the snow and my daughter got upset because she couldn't go. But my sis was taken away lol it's pretty funny, she said "omg this is the funniest thing I've ever done" and "wow it's so big". That was a funnier comment being the smaller size scoots of the bunch.
