Thank you, pinkflames. But you see, I don't think it would be worth trying to build that thing. That Rube Goldberg contraption of mine is more for the fun of thinking than for that fun of doing.
Consider that adapter in the video above. I don't know what it costs. --I intend to find out, by the way. Handy looking item-- But it can't possibly be more than your time and effort building that 'calibrator' that I dreamed up.
What's more, my rig won't be nearly accurate enough where it counts. It'd be accurate enough for a 1/2" drive torque wrench. But that's not really where you need it. My rear axle, for instance, should be torqued to 43 ft/lb. If my torque wrench is off by even 10% that's probably not going to matter.
But when you're torquing down head bolts, for instance, 10% might make a very important difference. And my calibrating rig is certain to be too clumsy to calibrate a 1/4" drive torque wrench that measures inch/lb. But I'll bet the Harbor Freight torque adapter would do it. With the right drive adapters anyway.
My scooter dyno just might be a more useful item. Particularly to those members who get into engine tuning a lot. But... it'll also be a good deal more dangerous and it had better be approached with a whole lot of caution.
Without fastening everythingdown really, really well, you just might get to see your scooter launch itself straight through your garage wall. After it clobbers you.
You'll be sure to get it on video for us, right?

Did I sound a bit sarcastic the last couple of paragraphs?
That's not what I meant. I was only trying to paint a humorous picture for all of us.
But it'll only be humorous if it never, never happens.

I guess Its one of those things, better safe than sorry and probably do us better in the long run. The adapter sounds verrryyy handy, and definitely convenient. Electric/digital does make me wonder sometimes tho. I feel a beam torque wrench would last a lot longer. I have no idea tho, no experience, just my opinion.
