So I have installed some pretty bright LEDs under my scoot both for safety and style points. Check this out. LEDs purchased here
I drilled out a tiny hole in my front inside plastics: I did one on each side of the front plastic. Then on the rear I zip tied the light strip right to the frame, one on each side: I used 16g (maybe 18g?, I don't remember) speaker wire to wire everything up. Pretty simple running the wire with zip ties along the frame. Both rear sides met at the battery box on the floor board, and then were spliced together. That wire then ran through the belly and up into the front of the scoot to the ignition. The front two lights were spliced together in the same manner and then spliced to the rear wire. That main was then spliced into the "hot" switch on the ignition so the lights are activated with the key. I've thought about putting a main switch in, but really no need right now. Very simple job, and very cheap way to be WAY more safe while scooting at night.

Cool. Can you post a pic of what it looks like at night?
If there's a pic of that there, I can't see it?

How many strips total did you use? Looks like 4? Is that right? I'm doing yellow ones on my Spree when it warms up out, and Blue ones on the TaoTao.

I had done 2 on the belly when I first got the scoot but the sticky didn't hold up and I lost them. This is far more permanent. I didn't even peel the sticky off the back of these ones.

Drilling on the Spree won't be an option for me. I spent a shit ton already just restoring the plastics, ain't gonna fuck it up by drilling on it, so I'll probably use an epoxy base around the inside edges, and let the LED's get molded in. Then the LED's will absolutely be secure, and I won't ruin the plastics. The TaoTao is different. I have no problem at all drilling on that, but I might just go the epoxy route anyway just because I can.

For me, being in such a rural area, I think getting LEDs would be best, especially since there aren't even street lamps here !! were UNINCORPARATED. But yes, if living in a big city, definitely would be drawing attention. I'm not sure if underglow on street bikes are legal here.... it's actually illegal here to have underglow on cars.

Are you far from Vancouver? I'm guessing your area is super nice for star gazing, and I bet you could see the Milky Way!! We have too much light pollution here, obviously... sigh

I have a GPS receiver antenna hung onto the windshield of my car with 3M and it's been there a couple years.

Yes! It's amazing how many stars you can actually see without the glow of city blocking our view! Lets see...I'm not too far I suppose. But far enough for me to miss even seeing a damn Walmart LOL a 2-3 hour car drive, an hour ferry, then another hour car drive. We make a trip about once a month just for shopping 🙂 Our small town is about 1 hour drive.
