Hi all,I,m now running premix 32=1 after all the fuss and worry it,s quite simple,I,ve taken the oil tank off sealed off the feed to the carb.I put 130ml of oil into a gas container then add 4litre of gas which will last me over a week.So far I,ve ran for 325 miles over 23hours with just one none start issue which was dirt in the carb,so Ive cleaned up my mixing jugs and containers.I,m still watching the revs though 6 6.5 gets me 35mph running on to 7 7.5 which is 40mph I can only run at 40 for short bursts a quarter mile or so before a red light stops me.So I,m calling it quits I,ll stick with this set up for a while.

Ok,a quick update to captain slow but sure thread,I,m itching to let my engine rev it,s head off but common sense and my paycheck say no.So just to liven up the commute I.ve fitted the blue clutch springs today,as advertised take off is a lot sharper.I have my own method and tools to swap the springs out maybe it,ll help others, geoff clamp the clutch down thread a wire under the spring and tug,I use a glove a this point cheap and cheerfull locking tool not the best photo there you go it,s not ideal but I read this as "rich" and safe, your comments welcome

45 hours running time/700 miles since the rebuild and going premix, all good so far, although over the last two weeks take off and hill climbing dropped off and the scoot was "hanging"between 5500,6000 rpm stuck in a rut till we reach a flat bit of road and off we go again.I had a prod and poke and discovered the accelerator cable was out of whack, properly adjusted and road tested, the hooomph is back . geoff

Ok it,s been a while, scoots still running fine and all is well, but winter is coming and I need to prepare,so first of all I,m going to change the tires.I usually take my wheels to local tire shop but am going to tackle the job at home. After watching Brent,s how to videos I ordered two tire spoons and made a start, the tires are fitted a few lessons learnt along the way, three spoons would be better,I struggled to break the bead until I realised my mortice cutter (woodworking machine)is a good mo jo lever and does the job in seconds.Soapy water is a must on the tire and rim when fitting. You need to use the "space" in the middle of the wheel to get the tire to fit.Not too difficult but I might go back to my tire shop next time . geoff

Interested what MPG's you're getting? I have not checked for a while now but between 65mpg and 70mpg was the last check I remember.I will clock the milage next fill up and update once I have worked it out.Scoots up for it,s M.O.T (annual road worthiness check, legal requirement here) next week,I am never sure why but I dread the inspection and cannot bear to watch as he pokes and prods at my pride and joy. Keep you posted. Geoff

Well the M.O.T has to be passed before I can tax and reinsure by the the 31st or I,m off the road so I booked a test for the 23 jan,the scoot then got the jitters, first a sticky brake light switch(easy) then the fuel pipe split and I had to call the wife out to rescue us.Next day the exhaust started to blow and had to replaced with an old stock one from the stores. On the test date Jitters over the scoot passed without any notifications and we are good to go for another year, but the test cost £25 tax £18 insurance £75 so a new exhaust will have to wait a month or so.But the stock exhaust is rubbish so I,m going to attempt to fix the Naraku "garage rules" using only what I,ve already got and a zero budjet, wish me luck.

Well it,s been a while but the new Naraku exhaust is here, the engine is out I,ve done the cleaning and have a list of tasks for tommorow, but while it,s out I,ve had a look at the suspect oil pump and it appears to be fine I havn,t got the balls to go back to auto lube though. It looks as though my soft seize was a jetting or blocked lube pipe thing, any thoughts.

Ok it,s all back in one piece runs tickety boo,as expected it tops out at 39mph (gps)but there is a lag from go to going I,d like it to zip up to 30mph so I.m going to play with the CVT in the morning.

Well that was interesting, the lag has gone I tried an old O.E. drive belt and the take off was better swapped out the rollers from 5.5g back to the polini 6.9g and it pulls all the way when WOT,I,m a happy scootist. The Naraku belt is 16.5X 738 the O.E. is 15X738 the Naraku left 9mm of variator travel the O.E leaves 5mm.My sat nav conked out so testing suspended I,ll try a new O.E. belt next week. But I,m studying brents project 90 so who knows.

Quick update, the belt will have to wait,a front brake pad lining has snapped off I keep a spare set of pads so no great problem but my brake bleeding syringe has failed and needs replacing, they arn,t available from the pharmacy and I had to resort to flea bay for inspiration (thumb)sorted, large syringes are used by people who cultivate indoor plants :)sounds easy to just nip to a local hygrophonics shop. Not so simple 3 shops saturday afternoon all closed or unfindable. So I went west towards the big city on sunday morning the 1st shop on my list was closed 2nd shop pure gold,a bleary eyed guy proffered a 100ml 6 inch long beast of thing, delighted I asked how much? and was prepared for a rip off attempt much to my astonishment the guy just waved and told me to pay for it next time.Job done and back on the road. geoff

So this weeks little problem,my front brake lever was not returning to fully off so the brake light was staying on unless I pushed it back manually, after a little head scratching it turns out that my brake cylinder valve was sticking.A strip down revealed some gunk in there and after a clean all seems to be fine,I did have a problem with a stuck brake piston which I could not move untill I connected the system up and clamped the free one closed, the pressure from the caliper popped it out I cleaned years of grime off it, back in working fine. geoff in took this picture a while ago but this is the original restrictor ring as fitted by Yamaha .

hi,all is good with the scoot and we have moved forward a little,I have re jetted the carb from 65mj to 73mj and the scoot is buzzing along (mid 40s)but I,ve not had chance to test with GPS yet.I,ve replaced the aged air box with the cheap chinarelli one but with the smaller Yamaha snorkel fitted.
back to last year and the soft seize, upon reflection I recon the engine was running very lean and had been for some years!!!. My scoot always made a tinking noise when stopped after the commute,I never travel more than 6 miles or 20mins run time not by design but that's what the commute takes,so I think I was on a knife edge for a long time.I,d aprreciate your input.

Would love to know if you used old seals after stripping down the brake caliper, my handle is squishy too, no matter how much I bleed the brakes it's the same.
