I still haven't got a refund from the mirror. Emailed them just now. EDIT : Just got the refund. It sorta worked out that the mirror is out of stock, because I ordered the wrong one anyway... batting a thousand here. Found the correct one as cheap as anywhere on eBay for $286 (power adjust adds $100 vs the 1st that was all manual). The seller got back to me 5 minutes later and said they improperly showed it in stock, but it's also on backorder with no ETA. Refund issued within 2 minutes of me saying go ahead and cancel. There's one on eBay for $135 used, but it has scuffs. Trying to keep the truck looking decent or I'd just leave it as it is. The zip tie is holding the halves together. Otherwise there's a small gap and it doesn't want to fold in. Chrome cover is good, just bugs on there. Power mirror is screwed up. It adjusts so it's mostly OK, but not as much movement as it did have. On the bright side, I did get 50-something minutes of video edited so far for the next TMAX episode. Still more to go, but hopefully I'll be able to get that done and up before too long.

The clutch vid is up. Removal, cleaning, inspection, Malossi springs and plates, and reinstallation. I went with the stiffest Malossi springs. Could be a mistake. They're probably for cammed and heavily worked apps, but I couldn't help myself. I had to see what they do. My clutch should have been fine for a bit, but maybe now I won't have to touch it again... unless I have to swap out the aggressive springs. youtu.be/pN8Dv0-O-8k

Great video. Very meticulous in the important details. Perhaps too much detail. Someone didn't like it. 🤦

Great video. Very meticulous in the important details. Perhaps too much detail. Someone didn't like it. 🤦 I usually get 1 dislike pretty quickly after uploads. Could be that random subscribers don't like this or that... or someone subscribes and doesn't like anything that I do. I get it. It's an hour long clutch video. Said it before, but you can skip around and use chapters if there's too much. You can't find it if it's not there though. This is not a recipe for success for me. My videos would get more hits and take up way less of my time if they were shorter, but I know that I appreciate in-depth content when I'm looking for info and I rarely find it because it's way easier and more rewarding to create short videos.

I've got the radiator and hoses back on. Checked and re-greased the steering head, which looked perfect just like at the 12,000 mile checkup. Did a fork oil change. I installed a new rear half of the front fender, because the old one had a broken mount. While doing that, I noticed that I only have bolts and washers for the large mounting holes for that fender half. That's all it's ever had since I've owned the TMAX. Didn't seem right, so I looked and it should have aluminum bushings. I didn't want to pay ~$20 and wait a week, so I made 2 on the mini-lathe. I made them a push-in fit and they turned out well. Maybe this fender won't break a mount. I was planning to get the wheels back on so at least it could sit on it's own 2 feet again, but that didn't go well. I need to swap rotors on both wheels and do bearings in the front. 3 of 12 rotor bolts in the front stripped where the hex key goes. I tried hammering in a slightly larger bit, heat, vise grips won't grab the hemispherical heads, a hammer and chisel didn't get me anywhere. Welding on bolts seemed quicker and easier than trying to drill and extract them. So much for not ordering and waiting on parts. I ordered 18 bolts to replace all of them, front and rear. I looked at PartZilla first, but it was going to be about $82 before tax. I realized that they are the same bolts that the R1 and R6 have, which are much more common than a TMAX. That let me find titanium bolts on amazon a little cheaper and with faster free shipping.

Saving weight on rotational mass is like double the weight on the chassis. And who doesn't like a nice bit of titanium.👍

At least it's nice to see something that mildly resembles a bike sitting there now. Sadly, this view shows you how bad salt water is. I considered pulling the transmission cover off and dismounting the tires to have them all powder coated, but it's just too much expense for now... plus I'm not sure how the TMAX would look with neon wheels. It'll be a bit before the brakes actually get done. The service manual says to replace caliper seals every 2 years. That's never gonna happen, but it is 10 years old with some corrosion and I'll have it all drained to do stainless hoses anyway. I looked at PartZilla and it's over $120 for seals. Dual 4 piston calipers up front are over $100 of that. The single dual piston rear caliper seal kit is ~$5. I found a front kit from BrakeCrafters on eBay, which is highly rated, for $63. I can only find the rear kit from Yamaha, so with both orders it came out to just over $80. Still expensive for 20 little rubber bits. It becomes obvious why most folks with big bikes ignore recommended services.

Refurbishment of brakes on big motorcycles is very expensive. Especially if you ride all year round, and replace the piston pots as well. Some companies over here offer a stainless piston option which stops the corrosion at least. Nobody is changing seals every two years, when you do the brake fluid.

Sneaking video uploads in at 1am? You need to take T2 out for a pleasure cruise. No agenda just to cruise around your ‘hood.
