I can understand disabling a switch to trouble shoot the scooter and then hooking it back up, but to do it when there is nothing wrong with it is just stupid and asking for something to happen. The switches are put there for a reason and not just because the factory wanted to add extra cost to the scooter or aggravate the owner.
Have you ever wondered why all push lawn mowers have that safety switch on the handle? Here is why, two brothers thought one day they would use their push mower to trim their hedges. So they started it up and then they tried to pick up the mower to trim the hedges, what got trimmed was not the hedges but their fingers. They sued the lawn mower manufacture and one several million dollars. Its crazy but true.
While this does not stop someone from disabling the switch it prevents the manufacture from being held liable for any injury because you tampered with the safety switch and altered it .
Notice the name SAFETY SWITCH, hence the name and that it is for your Safety.
One thing I do not like about my Marshin is the remote start, I can see this causing a problem some how and I refuse to use it. It just doesnt seem right to start a two wheeled vehicle without a rider on it or standing next to it.

Stories like that always get on my nerves. I just don't get why some people can sue and win large sums for their own stupidity. I always thought the safety switch was for folks like me that have to cut on hills so if it did happen to tip over it would shut off. I feel sorry for some of these companies. I mean, people do such ignorant crap that I don't know how you could even guess at how they might misuse your product. I would never think that anyone would pick up a mower and trim a hedge with it. I would have never thought some guy could sue McDonalds because he spilled a milkshake in his lap while driving and looking into the bag of food and hit another car. There are so many cases like that. It just seems like they would go to court and the judge should say "don't be a dumbass, case dismissed". I removed the alarm/remote start from both of my scoots that had it. The remote start was cool to show my friends the day I got my first scoot, otherwise I never had a use for it. It seems like nobody pays any attention to an alarm going off anymore and it would drain the battery so I didn't miss the alarm function. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=igneleclight&action=display&thread=386

lol, what gets me is the fact that with or wothout that safety switch on the mower two guys could pick it up and do what they did. In fact ide never suggest it, but i bet it could be done without loosing fingers?... JUST like getting hot coffee from Mcydeez, or say an ice cold milkshake and driving on down the road without burning or freezing yourself. Although one makes a heck of allot more sense than the other Ive drove my scooter right into my workbench HARD on a wheelie by accident. I have a deadman switch on Skeedr but its useless if its not clipped on you some were and even more useless when you stay on the scooter for the ride and the tether never gets pulled to kill the engine...

Having a milkshake in your lap makes more sense than picking a mower up to trim a hedge, but suing McDonalds for causing the accident makes as much sense as suing a mower company for the loss of your fingers. Maybe they should have also sued the car company for not including a cupholder and really loaded up their bank account. Ooh, add in the pant's manufacturer. If those suckers were water resistant the spill may have never phased the driver. Why was anyone even on the road with the other driver? Couldn't they see he was eating? Give the guy a break and let him eat and drive in peace people! When you really look at the facts, it seems like the driver was just doing what he was supposed to and forces beyond his control caused the crash. I'm pretty broke so I'm gonna go to a drive thru and I'll let y'all know when I'm rich.

You knocked that one right out of the park...HOME RUN..... :disco:
Several years ago when I work at a lawn mower repair shop we would see all kinds of crap come in the door and if any safety device on the mower, weed eater, Tractor or chain saw had been in any way removed or tampered with we would not work on it simply because you open yourself up for a law suit. This is were I learned of the two brothers and their lawn mower incident.
While I am in no way a saint, I have disabled the seat switch on my riding mower only because I was too cheap to buy a battery and had to jump start it.
The locking brake levers that you displayed in the photo, are they available to purchase. I would really like to have those on the wife's scooter as this is her first gas scooter.

Parts For Scooters used to carry them, but I don't see them anymore. Vento sold them, but they're out of business. I'm sure there's a source, I just don't know it.
