Interesting comment related to Honda Metropolitan rentals . . "I've loosened all the front brake action on the scoots because of the sand and gravel in the area. Less wrecks!" . . sourceLinked brake discussion.
Linked brakes are for old people.
Link brakes it has to be in the U.K. from January 1st this year due to some government body deeming it so. Implemented across Europe to i believe

Wha?? Is that for all scooters and motorcycles, or just for specific scooters?? I don't think it's for motorcycles, yeah?
It has to have some kind of limitations like beginner bikes or scoots... surely can't be implemented on all two wheeled vehicles. This is a bad precedent, me thinks.

Yes all 125s have to have linked brakes and fuel injection from January 2017, bigger bikes ABS. Scooters and all 49cc have to comply from January 2018. Big brother has spoken. 😊

2017 T-Max is $10,500, 2017 Xciting 500Ri ABS is $7K. So the question would be, is the faster speed and times of the T-Max worth $3500. And as happened to a friend last weekend, which one would I want to be on when a 12 point buck jumps out at ya on I35 at 75mph...

They each have their perks. One had sport bike designers and engineers work on making a big scooter that feels light and handles very well and the other is often preferred for comfort. There's no doubt that the TMAX is a pricey scooter. It's on par with the Burgman 650 for price. The Kymco has a great price for the 500cc and up market, coming in right on par with the Burgman 400. I think the Kymco and the TMAX are both underdogs in the maxiscoot market, where the Burgman models seem to be the top dogs. Bottom line for me is that they both have highs and lows and an educated purchase of any new scooter should include research into those points rather than just that they look similar but one is cheaper. I think it's cool that we have these differences in the scooter and motorcycle market so there's something out there for everyone. I'd buy a different make/model for every day of the week if money were no object. And as happened to a friend last weekend, which one would I want to be on when a 12 point buck jumps out at ya on I35 at 75mph... Depends if you're going to try to maneuver around him or just brake.

Swerving for a deer usually ends badly, best thing is to hit the brakes as hard as you can and keep straight, I've seen people swerve and the deer moves with them and they end up with a deer in the windshield and a car in the ditch. Day time isn't bad if you keep your eyes open but at night I won't even ride in some areas. Too many curves right where they like to cross.

I agree. I'd like the ABS in that situation as well. I live around lots of deer. I've seen some huge groups of them and had many struck right out in front of my house by cars. I've always just braked, other than when one ran out in front of me in the middle of a 30MPH curve at 55MPH. I was just defending my TMAX. lol Actually really wanted ABS when I first started looking, but for me I started reading about the changes in design for cornering performance and it was worth that tradeoff vs the Burgmans I was considering (the only Kymco in my area was a 250 with a carb and I wanted to go bigger and EFI for certain). I'll be surprised if I ever see a big Kymco in person around here. I don't think I have seen 1 so far. Even at the dealership 70 miles away that I've been to a few times, they only sell the 50s from what I've seen. Even the Burgmans and Silverwings, I only see maybe 1 or 2 per 500 other bikes. Not sure why the Harley guys that hold up my little 2T on back roads think they need 800+cc to ride 45MPH on roads that could be fun. To each their own, just wish they weren't slowing down my 50s.

The TMax has ABS now.
I was testing oot ABS on me own scoot yesterday. You could feel the micro pulsation on the lever when it gets activated. It really is a good, smart addition to scoots
