Kansas City Kansas here, had a friend give me a little 2 stroke 49cc nusun Chinese scooter. Got her running today for the wife and thought I would check the site out and find more information about these. I have a bit of 2 stroke experience, a bit more knowledge but haven't dealt with the cvt attached to it at all. I understand the concept, but I'll be looking into more of how they are connected. There is a hose on top of mine that isn't connected to anything so I'm not sure what it is. Overall a good little scooter, even without a mixing valve. I'll post pics when I'm able.

Welcome!
There is a LOT of info on CVT's and 2t (2 stroke)engines in the Tech Section. I learned a lot from the info on this site (I can take apart a variator, change rollers and put the CVT back together in 20 minutes- from what I learned here). The info will turn you into a really good scooter mechanic in a short time.
If you can't find it in the Tech Section, start a thread with your question and very knowledgeable members (lots of them) can give you answers. Many members like to share their knowledge.
Above all, Have fun here and on your scooter!

I have already started looking at the 2 stroke section, I'm already a decent mechanic as I've got a few car motors, I have a 2 stroke that was going into a minibike that's probably going to get blueprinted and put into the scooter. It's the same reed port design and I've had that motor apart. Fortunately these are very simple motors. But must of them are rehashed chainsaw engines, so flow wasn't high on the priority list. I'll learn more about the scooter itself before continuing any changes.

Welcome, I'm in the same boat. New but messed around with motorcycles and cars, not real sharp on CVT and centrifugals. Got to say, this site is 2nd to none for learning up!

I've been reading up quite a bit, going to put the knowledge I have into the other motor. Anyone know if a 50cc velocity stack works well for these scooters? I know it does for other small 2 strokes.

It looks like the reed port engine I've got already. Currently mostly vertical, but as its a 2 stroke can be placed either way. I'll get a better pic tonight. Replaced the spark plug, which is terribly placed. Barely able to fit a socket and ratchet back there.

You may not have to deal with the CVT at all. If that's the D1E41QMB, you have a chain drive. Not a good engine for modifying, but it'll get ya around.

That's what it looks like.I have another 2 stroke motor but it's a reverse setup from the current. Or should I look at a drivetrain swap? I could always find another 2 stroke with the actual cvt. I pulled the cover and its chain driven.
