90GTVertI did one better. Went to the local bike shop where I bought the prebug and asked him if he has a scrap scoot laying around and he had. Took and tested the 2 pin relay that was still on it and it was working. Got it for free so it wouldn't be a big deal if I couldn't use it. Fully motivated I went home plugged it in and.... nothing. :/ Same issue as before, when I tab the relay lightly it start to flash, the faster i tab the faster it flashes. So back to the beginning. :/

I have not much clue how to access the carb and spark plug on a prebug. Just above the spark plug is the fuel tank so no way I can get a tool in there. What would be the smartest approach to get good access to engine and carb?

That whole back body comes off in one piece after taking the seat off. From there it's fairly easy, but still cramped. BTW, the air box is a real mofo putting back on. Warm it with a dryer or heat gun. Better yet, replace that rubber tube that is between the box and carb.

For the spark plug I use a spark plug socket and a wrench. There's not enough room between the tank and socket to get a ratchet in there. Break the spark plug loose then leave the socket on the plug and turn it out. Once you do it a couple times there's nothing to it.

Yeah that airbox is a huge pain in the ass. It is connected with some sort of hard plastic and the airbox sits on that and can be turned 360 degrees if needed. I did not try to remove that hard plastic yet since I don't want to mess up anything. But I will have to do something about it sooner or later.

Golden week started over here (National holidays) meaning I have off till Monday next week. So I started to work on the Prebug and replaced the panels and did other small checks and also try to find the reason for the flasher lights issue. Below I have posted images of todays work. I don't know the previous owner of this scoot but look at the wire harness and the front light sponge. Everything looks like it has been replaced recently or he took really good care until he broke the panels. Even the carb looks clean, very clean. No corrosion no oil stains or dirt at all like it was very well cleaned or replaced. Can any Prebug owner please look at the CVT picture below and tell me if they ever have seen such a thing. Regarding the flasher lights. I stripped her down today and checked everything with my meter as described in the service manual and I could not find anything wrong in the power circuit or power delivery. Battery shows 12.8V, flasher gets power too. I also checked the bulbs just in case but all was good so I did another quick check in the www and some say that too low idling could be the cause of such slooooow flashing. So I lightly raised the idle and voila the indicators flash in a nice, steady rhythm. Who would have thought about the idle speed. Another thing that I am a bit confused about is the spark plug. I removed it and it says BPR6HS on it. According to the manual a BR8HS should be used. I know that B PR spark plugs are mostly used over here in Japan so it could be that a local shop installed it since most stock 2T scooters get a BPR6 or BPR7. So I put in a BR8 spark plug as written in the service manual and hope I didn't do anything wrong. She fires up and idles nicely. So here the pics now. (careful a lot pics!) Hardly any rust. Hardly any dust. Looks like you got yourself a Yamaha Bws Unicorn! The new panels look nice by the way. Is that a cvt plate for the gasket or just spacing?

Metal cvt gasket? That's a first for me.

Bike is looking good tsimi!
Try a heavy duty flasher relay, automotive style. And check the bulb sockets. If it's flashing slowly that means too much resistance in the circuit possibly. Clean up all the ground points on the chassis too.

Wow, what a change those panels made! Looks great Tsimi.
You having to idle up reminds me that my Zuma's will do the same thing if they have dead, or dying batteries. You should consider swapping the bulbs for LED's with a flasher relay specifically for them.

Looks very clean. Have never seen that metal cvt gasket neither!
I think the BPR plug has a longer isolator nose that protrudes further into the combustion chamber? But the manual says BP so thats what you should use.

Thanks guys.
It's kinda like engine case -> gasket -> plate -> gasket -> CVT cover. Gasket/Plate/Gasket sandwich. I removed the plate and tried the CVT cover on with those 2 gaskets and it still works. Well I put it back in there just in case. It could be used as spacer or for better engine stability who knows.
The new panels have a different white than the original stock panels. I chose on purpose "white" and not white metallic or pearl white. I am gonna anyway replace all the panels and belly pan in the future so I didn't really mind and I am thinking of going with a naked handle style later on. Also yes, I should replace the indicators and front light with LEDs sure looks better and maybe solves the issue. It could be the regulator though since the front lights are kinda weak. I'll shall see soon when my new regulator arrives.
There is still plenty of work to do on the Prebug on the visual part.
Even though this Prebug should be older than my Jogs and Vino it sure looks way better and clean on the inside. All wires and sponges look really great. I am glad I got it for that price. I guess the broken panels had an impact on the low price.

Prebugs are strange creatures... non-scooter people don't know how to classify it. Mine came with only 748 miles, and I got it for $50! Similar deal though, burnt up cylinder (looked like no oil) and missing it's rear plastics and seat and tank.

I saw your Prebug. Terrible thing to do to such a wonderful machine. But you seem to do a fine job bringing her back to life. You have the same fork as I do? The welded front forks with drum brake? If yes, are you gonna do something about it, like front disc swap?

Yes to both.
You can get a '98 or above fork, those are 26mm or 26mm forks. You can get a '01 mbk booster fork, those are 30mm forks I think. Or, you can cut off the oem stem from the fork and weld it onto whatever front fork you'd like. I also think 3rd generation jogs should have matching forks. Don't you got a couple jogs? Try getting a 93-99 (or whatever it is) jog front fork to fit.
