is a 2006 honda 50cc metro a 139qmb engine?
Would the 72cc 1p39qmb engine i have for sale bolt into this thing?
if not, do these chinese 47mm kits fit on this engine?

No, as far as I know they are liquid cooled.
Something to make modifying more difficult, the frame is aluminum, so there will be no conventional welding there.
They are pretty little things, and would be fun to modify (jam a big motor in there), but you takes your chances.

I can personally say that they're liquid cooled. There's a mini radiator just in front of the fan above the exhaust pipe. The fan sucks air through the radiator, instead of sucking air and throwing it past the cylinder like normal.

How would you ever know if you don't ask? (doesn't seem foolish to me)
Some more info:
Supposedly there were engine "troubles" before 2006, 5000 miles being all you can expect out of a motor.
Scooter weight about 175 lbs (plastic panels applied to an aluminum frame)
Sounds to me like a good candidate for a swap, but don't ask me what would fit.
