I bought this polini the other day for €50. This has been on someones shelf for a looooooong time. The leaflets turned all yellow ha! This thing screams for some porting. Super tiny ports, rough transfer channels, weird shaped exhaust channel. Btw the leaflet says i should use the stock carb and exhaust. A polini speedcontrol would be a nice addition and a cf reed petal of 0.3 or 0.35mm thickness. Im gonna buy some top racing gears this week. I don't want to nuke the engine with these super short gears.

Today I bought the cvt parts from a Kymco Scout (or Kymco ZX called over there?) for 30 bucks. They're aparently a nice and cheap upgrade over the stock af05 cvt parts. The TD and variator are bigger and I lose the stock and restricted variator ramp plate. Im also waiting on a Malossi gear set which gives me a ratio of 8:1 or something.

Good deal. Those parts work on the AF16 Honda elite so I wonder if the elite parts will work on that motor.

Not a Honda or Kymco expert, but I know there are some difference with the crankshaft from the older engines to the newer ones. Also the exhaust flange on the cylinder are different(straight vs angled) Newer AF16(Honda) SC10 (Kymco) Newer engine (94+)
Older SE05 (Honda) Pre94

Yup, this is true. Some of the af16s have different crank sizes. But the af18 is usually spot on. I think you might have to get creative w the drive boss and possibly do some case clearanceing. I hear that the 8:1 gears are waaay too low to provide a decent take off, but don't know personally. I topped out at 53 downhill with a 90/90 rear tire and malossi vario, stock gears. You can get ruckus variators to fit, like the big polini hi-speed variatior.

Has the kymco scout the old or the new type engine?
I really don't know anything about these motors hehe.

Not sure...quick way to tell is see if the vario boss fits. If so, I think everything works but you need the af05 boss

Has the kymco scout the old or the new type engine? I really don't know anything about these motors hehe. The Scout and the ZX50 are basically twins seeing they share the same service manual. www.49ccscoot.com/manuals/Kymco_ZX_Service_Manual.pdfWith that being said I believe they are both the newer engine.

I didn't feel comfortable with putting the stock head on the polini bbk and didn't want to just buy the malossi head so i did something about that problem. Stock head is 42mm but the polini's bore is 47mm. So i had the stock head milled out and im quite pleased with the result. The squishband is at 10 degrees according to the pistons dome angle. The deckheight with 0,4mm base gasket is -0.6mm, the squish/combustion chamber itself falls 0,6mm inside the head. The head gasket is about 0,5mm, so that gives me a squish of about 1,7mm but i haven't measured it (yet). Later on i might have a groove milled for an o-ring, ditch the head gasket and reduce squish to 1,3mm.

Oh this is what the stock head looked like first.

10/45? Check your head volume to be sure you are decently compressed

10/45? Check your head volume to be sure you are decently compressed Im currently decently compressed since it fires right up and runs okay. But ideally compressed is yet another story. A huge squish clearance and a lack of measurements make me unaware of whats the cr or whats going on inside the head right now. I might do a compression test one of these days? But i think im good for now. Maybe when im putting the gianelli on i do some more head mods.
