As far I know the MHR77 is discontinued. Spaz12 had one of the few last cylinders. He did recommend it to me a while back and it turns out Malossi doesn't make them anymore.

After a quick hone you can see the trouble area. Hard to get the camera to focus on it but it’s speckled like sandpaper and feels like it too. Athena 80cc anyone?

youtu.be/MNoQaRxQuwQSo it seems I’ve got other issues going on. Quick rewind, my last trip out before swapping motors I thought I had some detonation and the underside of the piston had cooked oil on it. I didn’t think much about it and went on with swapping to the 77. After pulling it apart from sucking in the reed I noticed some rust on my bearing. Leaking head gasket would be the only cause. Ok so continue on. After I pulled it apart to remove the reed parts I put my known good cast bore on there with the same crank. I found both cases leaking from my back filled areas. I had done a leak test when I swapped bores. Fixed those leaks, installed my last cast bore, known good jetting which leads to the video at the top of this post. Running like 💩 coughing and back firing. It seems I’ve got some ignition issue going on. I swapped cdi’s and it’s the same, ignition cap - same. It’ll only make it to 7-8k before acting up. So I guess I’ve got coil, wire and actual stator/flywheel. I’m determined to get to the bottom of this but too bad for me I already cracked into my beer so it’ll have to wait until tomorrow. What the f***!

Did you use the right spark plug? Remember, in my case one of the major flaws was using the wrong spark plug.

I did I still had some left over from when I had used it before (BR10ES). Also when I put the cast cylinder on with known settings it’s just running like garbage (BR9ES). I’ve got a spare coil I’ll swap on and see how that does.

Still LC? Or back to AC?

I just put my last run know good AC on there until I get things figured out. Once I get things worked out then I’ll get another LC cylinder. I don’t want to go destroying parts trying to figure out what’s going on. I think the backfire is what broke the reed, or at least weakened it.

Doesn't a AC require a BR9HS or BR8HS spark plug?

Doesn't a AC require a BR9HS or BR8HS spark plug? Polini heads use the long reach plugs (ES). Others use the standard plugs (HS).

So after pulling the carb completely apart and cleaning it, swapping caps, wires, coils, flywheels and stators... it was the stator. Actually the stator plate. At some point I guess the bolts were loose enough to slot the plate to retard the timing way too much. All it well now.

Not something you would think to look for right away. At least the fix didn't involve spending more money

This looks like fun! That’s not even all the parts. My original cases have seen better days. They’ve been cut, ported, back filled, ported again, filled again etc, so it was time for some fresh meat. I’ve got a new Malossi RHQ crank, Athena Evo LC, I’ve also got a ok don’t laugh it was a great deal - LC Polini Corsa, ill save that as a backup. Oldgeek was kind enough to offer a Vforce reed block which will find a home on here. I’m debating whether to cut the cases for the rear disc adapter or just swap to the OEM wheels for a bit. I feel bad cutting these cases after waiting so long to get them but I really like the Aerox wheels.
