I'm looking for good cast iron as well as available in the US or shipped at a reasonable price in a reasonable time. Scooter-Attack's shipping charges would be crazy. It's hard to find good parts in stock in the US. I can't find the cast iron Stage 6 Streetrace in anything but 10mm wristpin even overseas, although I didn't spend hours searching.
The other thing that sucks is that I gotta figure out if hes got a 10 or 12mm wristpin. Hopefully I'll get lucky and it's an '04+ or '02-. That's another advantage a real shop has. They just pull it apart and have either on the shelf.

The more I look the more I think the Polini Sport is a good choice. It's hard to find the Malossi / Stage 6 stuff in both 10-12mm and hard to find them in the US. My sources for even the 10mm versions would be Canadian.

I hear ya, it seems that most of the kits in the states are to cheap to try or they are a name but to expensive. I spent like $175 for my Sport kit from Scoot-attack. Not to bad but yea about $50 of it was shipping, and i think the exchange rate has gotten worse since then . It wouldnt be to bad if the rates were more in our favor. If they do flop and the dollar is worth more in Germany we should all pull together and place a huge order . That would be sweet to pick up a BB for half the $. Of course Scoot-attack would probably raise their rates if the dollar went up . Kinda makes ya wish they would have put a 10 or 12mm on the VIN tag or some were like that lol. Are you going to have to pull his motor apart twice? Once to check the pin and once to install the bb? Hope not, but that might be your best bet. Or you could just look through the cylinder window and see what size pin it is . I think Polini is a good choice but i bet you coulda guessed i would say that. After all look what i put this kit through so far. First i screwed up when i put the base gasket on upside down and blew the boost port section out of it. Then i carbon seized the rings to the piston . I have ran it lean, rich, and every were between. Even after that she is still forgiving and pulls my butt any were i need to go.

Whats a good reasonable rate to charge for a liquid cooled bb on a 2T? I got a guy that whats one on his super nine. I was thinking between $100 and $200, what do you guys think? I am talking about just labor costs...

I'd say it's worth at least $150.00. At $100.00 for an a/c job you're just barely making wages. And that would not include carb tuning. That would be another $35-$50 IMO

I was looking at over $200 shipped from the US. I can't get shipping rates from scooter attack now. I used to get a quote of the final charge, but last time I looked it just wanted to process the order and add the shipping in later. I can't do it not knowing how bad they'll get me on shipping. I dunno. If his is an '04+ or '02- I might just order. If it's an '03 I'll definitely be pulling it apart. I'll have to talk to the guy about it. I hate to charge for checking it out, but I don't really feel like doing all that for free either. What do you guys think about that? Do it free to encourage the business or charge a small amount so I'm not just working for free? It's not really an option to order two kits and have one around for either case. If I owned a shop it would be a no brainer to just order both, but I may never sell the other one in my situation. It looks like the Polini holds it's own with the other kits in it's class. The Malossi Sport and Stage 6 Streetrace will pull to a little higher RPM, but the Polini has the most torque. I'll have to see what concerns him the most. If he really wants to go as fast as he can top end I might try and pick up a Malossi Sport. If he would rather have the best acceleration I'll go with the Polini Sport.

I told these guys I'm charging $35/hr. I'm guessing 2-3hrs for AC BBK, checking the tune, and doing a little transmission work. If it were a retro count on much more time because you can't reach anything. The LC kit is more of a pain so add in another 30mins at least.

It would be nice if you could just keep it and take it apart, see what size, order, wait, then put it back together. I am assuming he wants to ride it right up until you are ready. I would just give him a big break on the labor if you have to pull the cylinder and put it back on. Just explain to him that if you gotta do it twice you gotta charge something but you will cut him a break this time . That is if you want to do it that way. If it were a shop they would just keep it if they didnt have it in stock, and he would be out a scooter for weeks. Sometimes i wish i had the power over 10,000 but then again Polini,s sport kit does have the torque to make up for it . Im thinking it has enough torque for an upgear? I never got a shipping quote from scoot-attack, i wanted it so bad i just ordered and hoped for the best. You could check with Jeremy(Dr.moto) to he orders from then sometimes, might be able to get a better deal.

When i ordered mine from S-A it was 127 euro, ended up being $165 at the time. Now it is $178 US. Thats still a good deal, i would order another one if i had the money. Im pretty sure scoot-attack (s/a) changes there rates to comp for the current exchange rate.?. Do you have an account with them? If not open one because the rates drop if you are a member.

I will probably charge $200 even for the S9, i think thats reasonable if i dont decide to charge by the hour also.

I've got an account there. It just annoys me that i can't just click and get a shipping quote. They're out of stock on the Polini Sport and Malossi Sport for 12mm versions at least.

Just got another call from a friend of that group of guys looking for a new 70cc kit because his oil pump died and killed the old one. He wanted a new oil pump too and I said you could pre-mix, that's what I do because I know it's got oil at all times. He liked that idea. Said he was gonna call a shop 45mins away from me and see what price he gave him and call me back sometime. Man, a fast scoot is good business.

You sure are right there bud . I picked up to more side jobs yesterday just from riding around . One guy i saw cruzin by as i was waiting to turn out, i ended up behind him but didnt pass just cruised with. We stopped side by side at the next light. We were both turning the same way, i said " nice scooter", he said the same then the light turned green and he took off turning. I just stayed behind and watched him gun it on his 4 stroke, we got up to about 35 when i let ole Skeedr rip on by like he just found reverse on his scoot ;D. At the next light he was like "holly sh!t that thing flys dang" I told him that im workin on scoots on the side and gave him my # so i could help him get it going a little better. I told him some of the stuff doesnt cost a dime for parts just a little labor. Then later on in the day i stopped at another friends that lives at the bottom of a pretty steep hill that i like to wheely down. I did my wheely and a younger kid (bout 15) saw me and came over while i was parking. He said "that thing has some power huh?" i said "its runs pretty good" he said "sh!t man i saw you come down that hill, and i know what a stock scoot runs and sound like"lol"and that aint stock". I said "you know your scoots kid cause she aint stock". He proceeded to ask me who did the work to Skeedr, i told him i did and he wanted my # cause he and his friends have scoots that need work. Ended up being a good day other than the nut that came loose, and that could have been way worse . Oh yeah any body know of any Ducati scoots? A guy said he has what he thinks is one that needs work

I'm pretty sure Ducati itself has never actually built scooters. Having said that, I have seen either a Maliguti or Aprilla model dressed out as a Ducati racebike. 50cc. European youth are impressed with that sort of thing.

Im guessing he doesnt know anything about em if he doesnt even know the name of his. Some are pretty hard to pronounce though lol.
