Anyone else noticing A LOT more new scooterists in their neck of the woods? I would imagine it's hard to tell for those of you in cities, but out here in the country it's more obvious. For a few years there has been 1 guy that would go by my house on a Kymco morning and evening, once would assume commuting to work. That guy's a badass BTW. Never met him, but he goes rain, shine, snow, whatever... I've seen him out there squeezing between the snow not plowed on the shoulder and cars skimming by him in a 50MPH zone by me. Oddly enough, he's disappeared lately. Other than that guy, I'd see a couple of scooters passing here or there and I got to recognize them so it's just a few people. Last year it picked up a little more. I was used to seeing 2 people most likely commuting fairly regularly, one in only nice weather as is more common for 2 wheelers. I also saw a few more people scooting by every so often. In the last few weeks with the weather being good and warm, I've seen a lot more. I see 2 more people scooting by regularly. I also see a few more here and there. When I'm out I am more likely to see another scooter somewhere too. Not like I see multiple scoots in one ride, but it's likely I'll see at least one if I'm in the right areas. Granted, we're still talking about a small number of scoots, but it seems like I'm seeing double the scoots of even last year. Kinda cool. Haven't seen any doing 60-70MPH so far, so I'm not worried just yet. lol There are a couple with loud exhausts though. There's a guy on a 150 that rides it like a 50, but he's been riding it for at least a year that way. I never have had a chance to fly by him and make him wonder if I have a 250 yet. lol So I know there are more out there all over, but is anyone else seeing double?

We're off to a bit slower start here.... it having rained maybe 22 out of the last 30 days here, but on the good days there definitely are more, more scooterists, more motorcycles.
*remembering* that premium gas here (the only kind that is ethanol free) is $7.50 a gallon.
It doesn't hurt too, when Honda and Yamaha, are blowing out NOS scooters almost as cheap as Chinese.

Lots more traffic around here as well . Of course i like it... Hope it keeps up. Just wish some people wouldnt treat them like toys and quit taking them for granted. They do that, they get in more accidents. More accidents get the law out heavy for scoots :sos: The drunks running them into everything including each other really dosnt help :stars:

The drunks running them into everything including each other really dosnt help That may suck for scooters in general, but damn someone needs to give these drunks cameras because that sounds like a YouTube hit for sure. Just imagine the America's Funniest Home Videos type of music and editing as drunk Jimmy plows through some boxes and into a dumpster, followed by Ted the wino scooting through a flower bed. I'd watch it anyway.

I'm imagining drunken scooter demolition derby's ;D Though, it'd be painful to watch good scooters get destroyed like that! Ah, who am I kidding... I'd be the guy filming it, and then going through the dumpster afterwards

Though, it'd be painful to watch good scooters get destroyed like that! That's why you give them four-strokes! Sorry 4T owners, I had to do it. There's nothing wrong with a good 4T, but we all know my blood is mixed with oil.

I have noticed A LOT of new scoots on the road here in Vegas. This is a pretty scoot friendly town anyway but, with gas on the rise and warm weather there are a lot of us on the road. I usually see at least 1 other scoot on my way home daily. Seems every year someone does stupid stuff and gets killed ruining things for every one else. Either a big bike or scoot and we become targets for the police. Just last week I went to work around 1 am with my helmet and other gear on and 2 teens riding 2 up bouncing and just riding crazy with no protection ran the light I was stopped at. I was the one that got pulled over a few block later :stumped: I hope there are not to many Darwin Awards this season. BTW I ride year round and see a few scoots that do as well. I think the new riders with there toys are just trouble waiting to happen.

I mostly see the new scoots on the weekends, I see a lot of these old (excuse the term) fat people riding with shorts on and t-shirts. They treat them like a toy and are all over the road weaving back and forth.

I feel bad now, because I still treat mine like toys. I mean, I know they're dangerous and to be taken seriously in some ways... but you will definitely catch me swerving around and doing dumb stuff too. I love swerving through the dotted lines for passing zones at speed when no one's around. Hell, I figure it's good practice for counter-steering and quick maneuvering. Of course I can go out late and get on roads where I meet 1 car in 10 miles, so I mean really no one around.

Ouch, that hurt :stars: What I noticed today, hot and humid, were how many riders with helmets on , were out in sandals, shorts, and t-shirts. I had on the armor, and helmet, and jeans...too old to ad any more aches and pains  I rode 5 miles with a bug stuck in my helmet buzzing in my ear  I've noticed a lot more smaller motorcycles on the road too. I wonder if I'll notice more gear on folks as they each wipe out for the first time and figure out it hurts .

Down by my house i see at least 4 or 5 regularly. I see a bunch more around Lafayette. Scooters are getting more popular these days. Everywhere I go someone is always asking about my scoot. :riding:

Hey now I ride a 4 stroke and have no problems with it. After I installed the Sigma speedometer I found that the chinometer was showing about 4 miles faster than it is actually going. My thought is that while gas prices are high people are buying scooters thinking they are going to use them to commute to and from work to save money. The majority of them never do use them for that but end up using them as occasional transportation to the store or that ride them once a week just for fun. Brent the difference between you and the new riders is that you dont do it with traffic behind you and they do. Goosey I learned along time ago that sandals, shorts and T-Shirts equal road rash, I will admit to wearing shorts on occasion but never, never sandals.

I never wear sandals period, so I'm good there. Always wear long pants when I ride. The tshirt I'm very guilty of in hot weather. Helmet and gloves always. The only ones aroudn here that I usually see with helmets are the ones that seem to be commuting. The occasional riders can't be bothered I suppose. I can't say much though I guess, I never wore a helmet till after my first crash when I figured out how much it hurts like Goosey said.
