I've done the T shirt in really hot days, I like my jacket, but I need to find one with good venting too. I never liked helmets, but it is something I am trying to get into the habit of wearing always, the more I've seen how easy it is to go down. I think the noobs that don't learn from experience, sell them with low miles, there should be some good deals on them next year

Same story here in Tampa, FL. I see quite a few commuters on scoots that weren't around a year ago. My am schedule is pretty regular, and I can count on seeing 4 on my way to work(in just a 20min span). A year ago just one of those guys was doing it. Of course, a year ago I didn't own one either. Now both me and the GF are scooting all over.
As foe accidents, I hate too say it, but I saw one yesterday. I was driving down a busy 4 lane and all of a sudden there were cars stopped everywhere, and all these people in the road. Then I saw a guy laying on his back in the road, with people crowding around. He was in obvious pain, but conscious. He looked like he was trying to, but couldn't get up. I thought someone had hit a pedestrian, but then I saw the scoot. Someone had wheeled it out of the road. Broken mirrors and badly damage plastics were all I had time to notice as I went by. Bad news. The guy had no gear, no helmet.

I am seeing lots more these days. Also when any cop sees me he gives me a really hard stare. Last night i saw a 2 wheel vehicle of some sort laying on its side on the grass by the road, surrounded by blue and red lighted vehicles. i dont know if it was a scooter or motorcycle but it was definitely a 2 wheeler. Anyway, I feel the regulations coming- registration and tags at the very least. Its just a matter of time.

Two years ago they tried passing a law here which would require all those riding scooters to have to have insurance and to register their scooter and have a plate. It didnt include or say they had to have a license. Well the law didnt pass, although every now and again you still hear talks of it. The big thing I keep hearing is that if you think you are getting something for free sooner or later it will not be free, if your state or county can find a way to charge for something that you are getting free they will. While I do not think its fair.

IMO they should leave scoots alone for the benefits they provide at this point. They still aren't a major form of transportation in most areas. They have a gas guzzler tax, so think of it as sort of an anti-gas guzzler benefit. If they wanna require insurance and registration, the registration should be very cheap. Insurance isn't really a bad idea. I know they're small, but you're still talking about a minimum of around 300 pounds with rider moving at 30MPH or better regularly. It's not required here, but I have insurance on all of my scoots. I couldn't afford to foot the bill if I did have an at fault accident, and it's quite cheap for scoots... around $200 a year for 3 scooters and my record sucks. Of course I'm probably a bigger risk factor than a lot of people because I ride a lot and I ride fast for a scoot. 40-60MPH cruising, depending what scoot I'm on and where I am.

If you think about it we should be getting paid to ride them. Why, well while all the other vehicles out there are causing extreem amount of pollution and other harming effects to the earth. We create very little pollution and also dont cause nearly as many accidents. We are saving not only the atmosphere and earth, we also save the insurance companies lots of money. See so it a win win situation and we should get a kick back for doing our part...LOL

Yeah, seeing a few more scoots around here too. Also a few more bikes with ladies learning to ride. A few weeks ago I pulled up at some lights and there were two ladies on newish bikes, wearing helmet, which is law and jackets. Sand shoes, thin pants and no gloves, hope they don't find out the hard way. Hey, i thought i was the only one weaving the lines. Darwin awards aren't such a bad thing, can be quite entertaining, after all, they're stupid enough to do these things.

but then agian i think its only 23 every 2 years we pay for moped or motorcycle plates

I mostly see the new scoots on the weekends, I see a lot of these old (excuse the term) fat people riding with shorts on and t-shirts. They treat them like a toy and are all over the road weaving back and forth. I see them doing the same thing. Whether it's a scooter or a motorcycle. I saw a guy in shorts and topsiders tennies the other day on a R1 Yamaha. He had a helmet, you have to wear one here. All it takes is a nice slide down the road to stop that. It'll happen. I really haven't noticed an increase in scooter traffic here. Maybe a little. A young woman I work with just bought a Honda SH. But I have seen more women on Motorcycles. I think that's a good thing. Most of them have their gear on. As far as scooter laws go, we have them all. Helmet Plates above 49cc and if you don't you had better be doing under 30mph and you can't drive it on State hiway You are going to get pulled over on a regular basis without plates, regardless No drunks on scooters here. You have to have a vehicle license for 49cc-MC license for above 49cc For you fast 2T guys, you can get plates for a 49cc scoot. If you have plates and can keep up with traffic the law won't look hard RD

Cool that you can tag one and go faster. You have to have friends at the MVA to get a tag on a 49cc here, or that's how it went when I tried it.
Once you tag a 49cc there, I assume you need an M license?

WI, you have to tag 49cc as moped here. Though when I got my first 49cc scooter, they didn't seem too concerned about them, no temporary plates, and it took 3 months. I had my papers and plates for the 150cc's in a week. Helmets under 18 for motorcycles only. The only real concern with 49cc seems to be drivers license required and 30mph. The only ticket I've ever known issued though was when my nephew went through a stop sign.

It's not written into the law yet, that's one they overlooked for now, but the Coppers are gunna want to see it if you get a speeding ticket. RD
