Hopefully he will be noticed when he comes back, and people will let others know about his actions.

I have seen on other forums where thy have a rating system, there is a button on their posts and profile that says rate user and it can be a trade rating or a general rating. just a place to rate trades with a one to 5 stars and a brief comment such as, item is not as described, or fast shipper, or never received my parts. and the average rating that user gets is under their name and the comments can be viewed on their profile page. so you can check someone out before you send money or parts.

or make it where you have to have x number of posts to view the classified forum, or even make that forum by invitation only.

There are no trader ratings in proboards to my knowledge. There is a rating system, but it's a general rating system. When I modded on the original ScootDawg, they had it so you could give and take "bones". Some called it karma... it could be called whatever you'd like. You could give or take 1 "bone" at a time. Before long, there were "Who took my bones?" threads. Then some, apparently terribly bored, individuals figured out how to change bone counts by a lot. That caused arguments and people leaving or threatening to leave. It was miserable and that's why I've never had any sort of user ratings here. I have more faith in our members, but it only takes 1 person to ruin it for everyone. I could do something like that and call it a seller rating or something similar, but it can be abused because there's no way to verify it all. It can be clicked by anyone. The only way I can think of to have any sort of verified rating appear by each member with a rating would be manually, and that's a lot of effort that I'm not interested in. Rate all you'd like, stuff still happens. I usually buy from high rated sellers on eBay. I still get some problems and some really poor business people that don't know how to speak to customers (or human beings for that matter). I'm not keen on the idea of any sort of endorsement from the forum or myself anyway, beyond my own personal experience that I'm glad to give. I don't want anyone saying that they felt comfortable buying from someone with a high rating or a title or whatever that I implemented, and then they got screwed. The idea that I like most so far is ryan_ott's saying a seller could post their name and see how many likes they get. The good news there is that a member can only like 1 post 1 time. The bad news is, who's to say someone wouldn't create another account or 10 to like their own post and make it look like they have good transactions. The other down side is I don't really want a dislike button. Maybe it sounds silly, but I try to keep that sort of negativity off of the forum. I think it would have to be in every post on the forum, and I don't want people being upset that they are getting dislikes on posts. Again, I've seen too many crazy situations over petty things on forums over the years to want to get into that. If I find that I can turn it on in individual areas, then maybe just for classifieds. I don't think it works that way though. Again, I really want nothing to do with the classifieds area as far as moderation. I'm open to any ideas that don't require upkeep (monitoring ratings and updating profiles and so on),so by all means keep brainstorming. It will always be a use at your own risk type of area regardless of any ratings or system that we come up with, but I guess nearly everything in life is done at your own risk to some degree.

its not a forum I visit very often and I f I do its in the non drug growing parts, but I beleive its a BB forum. its actually one of the best set up forums I have ever used. www.shroomery.org/maybe check it out just to see what I'm talking about with the two different ratings. not sure if you can really see all the features without being a member with like 50 posts and 90 days though.

In THIS case, a little homework should have told the buyer to beware. For me the sellers attitude speaks loudly.

I don't think its 90gtverts responsibility to make sure everybody who sells is legit.
I do think its the responsibility of the guy who gets burned to speak about it, and for others to do there own "research" before buying. Caveat emptor, right?
So, here goes.. I sent 180°off $25 for a stock Zuma ignition setup over a month ago and haven't got it. He stopped signing in to the site soon after. His sales posts are still up, but he rarely posts pics on them. If anybody sees these, don't fall for it. He never sends your part.
Anybody else?

In special cases, like when there has been someone consistently getting complaints for a while, I could create a member group that is not allowed to create posts in the for sale or wanted areas. I see it as a privilege to use those areas, and if it is abused it can be taken away. Probably not something I'd do very often at all, but we do seem to have 1 person that has had complaints like this for quite some time. Bad news is, anyone determined to take your money could create another account.

180°off has been changed to a status that will not allow creating or replying to threads in the For Sale or Wanted sections. I'd rather not intervene, but classifieds is one area that I don't hang out and even I am aware of lots of complaints about his sales.

What a shame, but I'm not surprised. I think he burnt me as well, but could never prove it. Sent him some parts and just asked for shipping. He gave me half (10 bucks) and then said the parts never got to him... A couple weeks later he mentioned in a thread that he had a new carb, which was one of the parts I'd sent. Anyway, I think he is the exception here. I've dealt with many of the guys on here and have never had any other problems. Oh, and I'd vouch for tsimi, PIG and ryan_ott in a heartbeat. A1 ratings

Reading this thread again, I must be doing something wrong. I sold my last exhaust for the aerox on eBay this week. A stage 6 pro rep. As I had a load of other small bits, jets and that, I asked the buyer if he wanted me to put them in the box. He was very happy with the exhaust. Said it was like new, and even could not believe I sold it. So we started talking. Now I am going to send him some aluminium foot plates just for postage. To Some people the good will is worth more than money. And I have a new scooter buddy 😄

I installed the "karma" plugin on the forum and changed it to possibly suit this purpose. If you look in your mini profile (the thing on the left of your posts where your avatar is), you should see "Trader Points". Below that, "Rate Trader" with a + on one side and - on the other.
Clicking the + will add a "trader point" and using the - will take one away.
I have set it so that a member can only change any member's count one time in a week, in hopes of avoiding lots of false ratings.
The idea is to give a positive rating any time you are happy with another member's interaction for a sale or trade. You can use it for buyers as well. Please do not rate someone if you have not had a transaction with them, and please only 1 rating for each transaction. If you were neither pleased or displeased, just don't rate the member.
I cannot set this to only be active in classifieds, so it may accumulate ratings for reasons other than trading and I'm not sure if it will prove to be useful or not. We can give it a shot and see how it goes.
If the consensus now or later is that it is a bad idea or does not work to give any good insight into trading experience, it will be removed. If arguments and/or negativity are occurring because of points, it will be removed.
A member's "Trader Points" are not an endorsement by this forum or proboards and you must still use the classifieds at your own risk.
This text has been put in threads in the For Sale and Wanted sub-forums and stickied.
