When I split my cases for a total rebuild I used 3 angled pry bars and worked it off real easy and slow. None of my pullers would work either. Just remember (if you use my method), your prying against aluminum. That hex head bolt that Gooseys talking about is the set screw for the upper cam chain guide. IF I remember correctly once you get that kick start gear off you can pull the oil seal without splitting the cases, not 100% sure of that. Does it start and run? If so make sure the oils full and start it and let it run for a little bit after you clean that area up real good and see if you can tell for sure where the oils coming from BEFORE pulling that gear. Brake parts cleaner will get it quite clean.

Also there is an o-ring gasket on the cam chain guide bolt, that may be where the oils coming from. Look at the pic of it and you can see oil up under it and what looks like a drip getting ready to fall off it. But that could be the oil getting slung from the crank up to it, thats why you need to clean it real good andf let it run for alittle bit and see if you can find out where the oils coming from.

It is hard to tell if oil is coming from the seal behind the gear since you cant see it, but when I started it up it looked like it was a light spray in a spiral pattern...so im gonna guess it has to be that oil seal.

Yeah thats where I'd put money at also, that would also explain why the hex head bolt looks like it does. I can't emphasize enough caution about prying that gear off, be extra careful if you do it my way. And when you put it back on after changing the seal make sure you've got the tapered seat facing the right direction otherwise it won't go back on far enough to get the vari on correctly. Good luck and keep us up to date with it.

Yea, I def don't wNt to try to pry it off....with my luck there is a 100% cance I would crack the case. I am still on the hunt for a gear puller that will work. I went to harbor freght today, but no luck. They have a bearing splitter there that jus might fit if I remove the kick start assembly

You are going to have to get all the oil out of there, all of it. So just pull the kick start assembly now. Anything with oil on it has to be cleaned up. Oil , belts, and clutch pads don't mix. It'll be a nuisance to get back in but don't worry about that just now, really simple, just tricky getting the spring wrapped back around.

Well, its a chinese scooter...so it looks like im gonna have to go to China to get the tool to remove the gear...http://www.aliexpress.com/fm-store/200546/210307163-370890172/Timing-Gear-Tool-For-WJ-125-Motorcycle-Repair-Tools-AT-G236-Free-Shipping.html
Hopefully that fits, I hate to wait 15-30 days, but its better than cracking my case.
