I had to work until noon today and when I was unlocking my scoot, I noticed someone tried to cut my cable. I was pissed and started looking around to see if any more damage was done. I got very lucky today no harm no foul. Now this is no ordinary bicycle lock and cable. I use a 1/4 in boron master lock and a 3/4 inch towing cable with something like 5,000lbs of strength. The lock and cable add about 45 pounds to the scoot and I paid around $80 for the set up at Home Depot. I think it was money well spent. The bolt cutter didn't even go half way through. Now I'm afraid they will bring bigger bolt cutters tonight when I go in at midnight. I guess I'll have to use more locks ;D If someone wants whats yours bad enough it's gone. Just protect the things you have, Make it more difficult to take and hopefully they move on to an easier target. It just pisses me off thinking about all the time and money put into the scoot if I walked out and it was gone, I would want blood!!!!! Not to mention the tools, air horn, Expensive modds etc...... OK rant over. Thanks for letting me vent. I will be using all 5 locks I have for the next few weeks just in case.

Man, am I glad I live in the country, I leave the keys in the ignition Good to hear they didn't make off with it, hopefully they won't come back for another go. Maybe invest in an alarm or disk lock with one?

Glad the POS thieve didnt get it! Be nice to have a dog or something to guard your scoot...I guess thats a bit impractical tho . Maybe a snake? Or just electrify that badboy when your in work so it shocks the shit out of em ;D I cant stand a worthless thief  . Is there anyway you can put it in a better spot? More lighting or a cam on it maybe?

Rotten buggers:( They will try again, trust that better judgement and go overboard with the locks for sure.

A nice booby trap would be one of those cheapy personal alarms mounted to the underside of the scooter out of site with a real thin fishing line tied from the alarm through the front wheel to something solid in front of the scoot. They go to move your scooter or just turn the handlebars and it pulls the cord on the alarm. Watch 'em run like roaches. lol www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3513365

You could setup a hidden kill switch somewhere to help prevent anyone from riding away. Could just mount the CDI somewhere easy to get to and pull it when you park the scoot. Hotwire that Mr. Thief. ;D I think the disc lock might be the easiest addition to setup on a regular basis that'll keep the scoot from being ridden or pushed away. As long as the thief isn't planning to lift it and load it up for a getaway, you can make it so hard to deal with that they won't bother.

Sounds like I have just been given an idea for another electronic circuit design. Just to let you know you cant use a alarm that will shock anyone. Did it on a car once and was given a not so friendly warning from the law, their thought is you could cause a heart attack or death by the sudden shock.

My thought is, keep your hands off my scooter and you won't get shocked. lol I wouldn't do it though. Some fool messes with your scooter and you end up losing everything when he sues you for having a heart attack. That and some little kid might get zapped cause I've heard others on scooter forums talking about seeing parents let their kids get on parked scooters and stuff. You wouldn't put your kid in a parked car that doesn't belong to you so I'm not exactly sure why it seems OK to do that with a scoot.

I've got it. One could get those hippo hands, the muffs that go over the hand controls to keep your hands warm. Then put mouse traps in them when you park. The resulting yell would even work kinda like an alarm. I'm pretty sure that would get you sued too though.

I dunno, I think electrifying the scoot's a bit harsh on anyone who happens to brush past it, but sticking their hand's in your hippo hand's is fair game

no with the cattel prod it doesnt electrify the whole scoot and just has 2 probes at the end of the prod that would be in the seat and it works off of a preasure switch so when you sit on it it zaps your ass when you get off no zappy no more

The parts to make a shocking alarm are very simple but please DO NOT TRY THIS. 12v blinking bulb Ignition coil from point ignition system car or motorcycle I will not go into any more detail. I had a 87 Buick Regal Turbo that I had just got repainted and at the time I lived in a apartment complex. Well a couple weeks before I had it repainted and one of the reasons for having it done was a real nice long scratch that from out of nowhere appeared on the side of my car and prior to that I had the hood ornament stolen. So after getting repainted and the hood ornament replaced I was not going to let it happen again. The guy who we all new that had done it was the one who got shocked and after that we never saw him touch another car. While it did work, it also could of caused me alot of legal problems had I not been friends with the police officer who came out on the call. So I suggest not to do this.

Thanks for all the Ideas!!!! I work at a grocery store so dealing with carts hitting the scoot is bad enough. I would love to electrify a customer hitting my scoot I am a creature of habit and living in a big city where Ass Hats take advantage of such things, I was forced to take the Saturn to work the past few days Out of paranoia. In the past, 1 coworker had her truck stolen twice and an assistant manager had his rims taken under surveillance cams. Another manager had the same Saleen mustang stolen 2 times with the camera rolling, No arrests!!! This being the "busy season" I would suggest even the country boys to protect whats yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I Know the Bastards will try again. I recently installed a hidden Kill switch and manual petcock. This means nothing though if lifted into a truck and resold as a non runner or parts bike.( A 45mph all day 4T sold off as a parts bike ) My State has no registration or insurance laws for anything 50cc so theft is a REAL problem. I just may Invest in a cattle Prod Just a warning to those of you without protection, Your scoot maybe at risk Protect what's yours with a decent lock and chain!!!!!!
