Evening all. Just thought I'd say a quick hello before going off for a look around. I recently bought myself a lexmoto fmr50 Is was very slightly 2nd hand with 280km on the clock and completely standard.
I realised on the ride home that it was going to be painful to ride it in its current form so set about ordering a 72 naraku bbk, a new carb, lextek exhaust, naraku cdi and a motorforce coil.
I've now got it topping out at about 42mph, a great improvement over standard and I'm a bigger bloke.
Next job is going to be a better clutch and variator and then maybe a gear up kit.
Anyway of for a read as I'm always learning and I'm fairly new to scooters.
Prepare for a few questions Sean.

going to be painful to ride it in its current form At least your strategy is consistent with typical forum mentality . . purchase a 50cc scooter to take advantage of some legal stipulations, then ignore those stipulations with engine performance enhancements! Just hope you are not in denial about the potential consequences!

Don't skimp on the variator. The cheap ones, like DLH and the Koso knockoffs for example, are known to fail prematurely.

Just thought I'd mention it so that you could clarify if you'd like.
Anyway, Sean, welcome aboard.

Anyway, Sean, welcome aboard.I took it as a dig at the fact i had upgraded my scooter and the "potential consequences" relating to the trouble I'd get in with the law .... kind of why is stayed away for a while, thought maybe the forum wasn't for me, glad I checked back in now. Thanks for the welcome everyone 👍👍

I'd agree with your assessment. I had a Naraku variator long ago and it held up for a while and performed better that stock. I'd also look at Malossi variators.

Sean, welcome to the forum, any Naraku product works fine for me on my mild street build, you would be hard pressed to find an unmodified 50cc here in the UK,don,t mind tortoise he,s due to hibernate soon.

I'm pretty sure everything about most of my scooters is against some law.

I think tortoise2 makes very large donations to the form to make up for all the new people he insults.

Thanks everyone. I'm still not really sure what point he is trying to make ?? There are a lot of people who look upon any tuned engine as a disaster waiting to happen.
They aren't, or at least they don't have to be
Serviced regularly, not thrashed everywhere they go and generally looked after they will serve you well. Even the most standard engine neglected, "ridden hard and put away wet" and generally mistreated will fail
Sometimes, if you can't think of anything positive to add to a post is best just to scroll passed.
