So the current fleet at home is 4 Gyros in various states of repair, my Suzuki Let's 2 with an unhappy 70cc engine, Sandy's AZ50, Aaron's FA50 and an ATC125 trike. That was too many already, so what's the harm in adding another scooter??! 2006 Yamaha CV50 Jog! Too good to chop up for the crankcase, so I might as well tidy it and have a play right?!

Awesome! Great scooter, you won't be disappointed. You guys have the stupid exhaust hose version which is something you should ditch asap. That emission crap is not needed once you put a 2Fast cylinder on it. There is not much to check. Maybe have a look at the gears. Those are expensive and hard to come by. The fairings look still good but your foot plastics could use a bit of Wakos refresh. Or anything that brings back the black shine.

Wd40 or Olive oil also works well for faded plastics. I think some atv gears from short case 90cc fit but not sure. Nice bike! Shouldn't need gears really. But a good cylinder and pipe would do wonders!

Picked it today Needs a bit of love but it was super cheap so I can't complain. The seat latch is missing, cable is snapped at the key end so I'm guessing the latch was removed instead of replacing the cable. Edit: just been having a nose about for parts, think this Yamaha is going to get me in trouble!! So so so many parts available, already drooling at 86cc cylinders and pipes etc! Couldn't build my Suzuki beyond the "sport" level due to lack of after market support.

Got it home, gave the carb a quick clean and it runs great. But it's too small for me, my knees are at handlebar height! So bit of a clean up and replace the seat latch etc, mild sport level build maybe then on sell.

LoL You are talking about the Jog right? Damn, knees at handlebar height, you must be a huge dude. Too bad, there are really a ton of parts for it from sport to hyper race grade. Anything your scooter heart desires.
You could just take it apart, and use the engine to build a gyro-yamaha hybrid.

I'm 6'2" tall, it feels about the same size as my Suzuki but with lower bars and the seat feels further forwards!
I'm going to look at stems to see if I can gain some room that way. Otherwise I'll tidy it up and on sell it and put the $$ into a 3kj engine for the Gyro.

Get a stem that will let you use a bmx style bar and put some big ape hangers on it 😀

Got a few bits and pieces coming for this, thinking of doing a decent tidy up, get the dash working (hopgfully just a bad connection somewhere) and a mild upgreade with parts that I sell and documenting it as a shop project to get followers for the bushiness page on FB, eventual goal being NZ's first hyper race build... tsimi do you know what the second keyhole around from the ignition is for? I haven't pulled any plastics or anything off and it doesn't seem to do anything at all? If anyone has a spare seat latch about I am really in need of one too, just the part that bolts to the actual seat base would do it, I'm missing the full latch assembly but I can get most of it direct from Yamaha just the one little latch piece is only sold as part of the complete seat. Once parts start getting here I'll chuck on the ramp and start tearing into it!

I didn't understand what you mean. Second key hole? On the side of the ignition? A picture would be a great help.
With seat latch do you mean that metal piece that bolts to seat?

I should have taken some pics to start with tsimiHere's the second keyhole You have to push the key in before it turns, it's sprung so the key returns back where it started. I'm missing the complete seat latch, the cable is snapped so I'm guessing the latch may have been destroyed to open the seat. The actual latch and cable are easy and cheap enough to get from Yamaha through WeBike, but the part that's meant to be on the seat isn't sold separately or at least I can't find any part numbers for it alone.

Ah yes, THAT second keyhole. How could I not understand it. That second keyhole is to unlock the so called G-Lock. That G-Lock locks in the clutch and therefore the rear wheel can't be moved anymore and should prevent people from just simply braking the handle lock and roll the scooter away. It becomes obsolete once the stock clutch bell is replaced. Have a look at the clutch bell and CVT cover then you should understand. The problem is in your Jog the lever to lockup the clutch is broken. It suppose to be right next to the ignition lock. Look at the following pictures of my Jog. When you pull the lever the ignition keyhole gets covered up and the clutch locks in. Can't do this on my one anymore since I swapped out the clutch bell. You can see the cover a bit on this image. Regarding the seat latch? You mean probably this one here. You can get that from Yamaha through webike or I can spare one of mine if you can't find it. My spare seats And this is how the other side should look like I took the liberty to look up the Yamaha parts numbers. Just let me know if you want to have the Seat Bracket from me or if you want to order it at webike. I can remove one of my spare seats and send it to you if you cover shipping. I think price wise it won't make much difference though. It cost only 713 Yen.

Ahh it all makes sense now! I at first thought the slot for the lever was damage to the plastic lol.
I'll add the seat bracket to my WeBike order with the latch etc, I just hadn't been able to find a part number for it alone.
Starting to get excited to start on this thing properly!

Oh and btw. you can look up all the parts here www.yamaha-motor.co.jp/parts-search/pc/Just scroll down, click on the large blue button. Then use the 3 drop downs to select displacement, model and year. Select your scoot. Then you click on one of the explosion images and you should see a close up on the left and a list of parts on the right. If you want to see price and stock just either double click on the parts name on the right or double click the number on the explosion image. You should now see the part(s) in the bottom listing. Click the only button available. It will probably show you a popup, click the button to confirm. Once that is done you should see prices and stock condition. If it says あり that means in stock anything else would mean discontinued or not in stock. Hope that helps.
