Have a look at this, will you?
peoria.craigslist.org/mcy/d/vespa-gtv-300-scooter-2012-new/6437551984.html
A fine looking modern Vespa at a price so low that I'm afraid I'm a bit suspicious. The seller 'speaks' as though he/she doesn't really know much about scooters or doesn't think that the market knows much about them.
On 'reply' it said "call or text". No e-mail. So I sent a text asking for an appointment to see it and also asked for clean title and bike mileage. I suppose if I get a squirrely answer I might just let this one go by.
But if this is for real, then I'm gonna grab this one.
I suppose my biggest risk would be getting a nice bike that still looks good only to find that the engine is on death's door because the previous owner didn't know or bother to check the oil. Or something like that. And that would be a problem.
So I'm not quite sure just yet.....

Of course it is too good to be true!
Some type of scam. I have seen same picture here in SC a couple months ago, same stupid low price. I regularly flag CL ads that I KNOW are fraudulent.

That scooter has been all over the country on Craigslist. It is a scam.

Darn it! And here I was salivating like Pavlovs dogs.
And if the scam is just getting peoples phone numbers for marketing, then I've already let myself get burnt. I sent a text.
But I'm glad I got some other opinions on it. Thanks.

You would think they would at least change up the picture.

Sadly the EXACT same scoot has been posted around KC for almost a year.

The jerk did end up answering my text. He said something like, "I put up that CL ad for my aunt. Contact her at suchandsuch@gmaildotcom for details.
Had I not checked in here I'd have still been suspicious. But I think I'd have suspected that I was dealing with a couple of dummies rather than a scammer. I'd have never been dumb enough to send money by Western Union or anything like that. But I might have naively looked further into the whole deal and allowed this idiot to waste my time. So I'm glad to hear what you all have had to say about it. Thanks.
I was actually on CL looking for a motorcycle for my daughter. She's competent on a scooter. But it doesn't seem to thrill her as much as it does her mother, sisters and myself. She's craving something more.
So I answered another ad. But the guy hasn't written back yet. It's quite local. A 2007 Honda Shadow 600. 8200 miles. $1900. And the photo showed a very good looking bike.
But now I'm suspicious of that. 600cc? I've never heard of that engine size before.
$1900 for a Honda with only 8000 miles? Seems a bit low....
So I guess, if he does write back, I'll ask first if he'll have the title available right then and there before I even bother to drive over there. I'll ask, "Your name is (name on title)?" I'll have a close look to see that the VIN on the title matches the VIN on the bike.
Anything I've forgotten?
I almost hope nothing comes of that. I'll just buy one from a dealer. At least I'll know that the bike is there and so is the title. That it's not hot and that I won't drive anywhere only to be told that "the money needs to be sent to my aunt in who-knows-where or some such garbage.
Sheesh!

I've never seen that add posted in Columbia Mo. But before i read the posts on here i looked. My fist thought was "Brimfield, ILL? How the hell they get a nice green lawn like that in the middle of winter."

Sheesh! We got the 600 shadow here. Do not know much about them really. Sounds like an ok first bike. Here is a review www.motorcyclenews.com/bike-reviews/honda/vt600-shadow/1992/

Did you send them a message to verify it is a scam? I've seen GT200s with high miles sell for under a grand before... which is a steal, but it happens. Matt Edit... Now that I look at it, the image looks like a total scam image.

Now that I look at it, the image looks like a total scam image. Dont worry. I am not "that guy" that flaggs everyone's listing. You can pretty much tell by the picture if it is a scam. And no, I do not message them to see if it is a scam, that would be pointless IMO. PS. I buy up all the real deals!
