So I've posted enough threads about this thing, might as well consolidate and just continue on with this thread. Bought this brand spankin new from FamilyGoKarts.com in February 18. They were great to deal with, from purchase to delivery it was about 6 business days. Heres my delivery pic After i got it unboxed, we got snowed on. Temps went back down into the 30s for a week straight so i had to rejet to make it drivable.. made a huge improvement. Followed Brent's videos on de-tamper-proofing the carb. First ride past my road, bout 6 miles out with 20 miles on the dash. Also my first scoot tag post Now into some work. Got a 50mm bbk from ' bgmotor2010 ' on ebay, good reviews. Unwittingly got the wrong piston with the kit. After installing said kit and putting less than 20 miles on it, this happened. Enging blew out the head gasket in the process of cutting it's own valve reliefs. So in an attempt to get it back up and running, i reinstalled my stock top end. Buddy from a few towns over brought me some much needed stock gaskets for the top end. As well as a new ngk plug. All for 5 bux! What a guy Now its back up and running. Only took it up and down a short stretch of my road, any farther and i risked pushing it back up hill if it broke down haha. Either tonight or tomorrow im taking it to the carwash for a good test run. Hopefully i wont be pushing it 5 miles up hill back to the house again.

Got my plate today!! Only thing is i didn't get my rego papers or plate sticker yet 😤 wattevuh. Got 25 miles on the scoot today with it anyway! And those were 25 trouble free miles! All i did was some idle adjustment.

So im looking at carb upgrades and need some input. Both on partsforscooters.com 20mm vs 21mm? Prices are close to the same, will the extra mm make much of a difference? I still plan to keep the factory airbox, just slightly modified.
Also is there anywhere to get just a derestricted exhaust pipe for the 139qmb with a 6 bolt flange on the end? My bike has a typical 'performance' muffler on it from the factory but also a typical factory exhaust pipe thats necked way down by the head. So buying the full exhaust is kind of a waste of money if i can get the pipe alone for cheap.

I notice no engine shrouds in a pic above. It's not a good idea to run with those off. The shrouds let the fan direct air over the engine to cool it so it may overheat and possibly fail because of that.
I don't think 20 vs 21mm makes much difference. 20mm should work fine for most builds. Some of the people going to 80+cc heavily modified builds will go big, like 24mm GY6 150 carbs and intakes or sometimes larger, but I think 20mm will do fine for most 49cc-72cc builds, and possibly larger.
You can find aftermarket headers with 6 bolt holes on eBay and amazon and others. I'm not sure if they will match up to stock mufflers at the flange or with routing though. I'm also not sure that they'll do much for you. I'd expect likelihood of gains to increase if you had a larger engine or big valves and big ports.

That was just on my start up, i added my shrouds as soon as i knew it was running right. The shroud over the fan has a piece missing, currently taped over. New one will be ordered this week

Been putting down the miles to and from work with lots of dickery in between. Unfortunately i live on a mountain in the sticks, and work in a valley in the city. So it is almost impossible to not be wot at all times. But scoot seems to be handling it fine, and averaging 57mpg with a 230lb bike and a 260lb gorilla with gear isnt bad.
Unrelated, anyone have tips on getting that front wheel off the ground? other than reinstall the 50mm top end. Will a contra spring and roller weight tuning be enough?

If you've got some spare time, you can also try to make some electrical connections more waterproof in case that's an issue as well. Dielectric grease on pins, silicone or some kind of cover to keep water out.

Actually i already went through and hit everyrhing with the dielectric grease. No silicone yet, but after my water issues i might just do it for preventative maintainance.

Found some spares in storage. A yamaha 85cc coil, and an unrestricted gy6 cdi. Not sure if my current one is but im not exactly fighting the rev limiter so ill just hold on to it for troubleshooting.

I broke off my kickstand! Heavy winds blew the scoot over on the kickstand side, left it bent like a banana. Tried bending it back in the vice and it snapped. Guess I'm getting the centerstand stuff on friday..

Finally found another measurement of along case. The one above is a short case.
So if i want to swap to a 150, what all will i need to get it running? Assuming i can weld all my own brackets..
Gy6 150cc long case engine Carb Exhaust Cdi Voltage regulator Center stand Rear brake assembly
Anything else?
