Yes it does look like you got a pretty good day, didn't you?
We didn't do quite as well. But when you consider that our weather had been pretty dreadful for a while, then today was good. It was mostly overcast. The sun only showed up sporadically. There was a pretty steady NE wind of about ten mph. But it got to 63 deg F. (Just for the practice of converting, I'm going to call that about 16 deg C)
It was also a good day for wildlife. I work right on a river. There were pelicans floating on the river today. One of them was close enough to see his profile clearly. That's rare. They're usually too shy of people to get that close other than the occasional flyby. A bald eagle circled overhead for a bit. We definitely see them in late winter here. But I've come to suspect in recent years that some of them are summering here as well. And I also saw what I think must have been some kind of crane flying over some nearby woods. I've seen him before, or one just like him, over the last few years. But I never get close enough to see the sort of detail I'd need to really identify him. (I'd need help from a book or something even then.) But this bird is too big to be a blue heron, which is the most common bird of that sort around here. His wingspan is six feet at the least. I'm guessing it was more like seven feet. And to find that it was eight feet wouldn't surprise me very much.
I see pelicans in larger numbers than today fairly often. But always at quite a distance. The bald eagles are more common than this mysterious crane. But I don't see them every day, by any means. That crane is intriguing. I do believe that there's been one living in these parts for a few years now. But it's only one or it's only a very few.
A good day for wildlife. Riding into work I was able to wear only canvas type workpants, a cotton jacket with the sleeves rolled up, fingerless gloves and a baseball cap. Now that was refreshing, I can tell you.
Same clothing getup on the way home. That was about an hour ago. A young raccoon nearly got under my wheels at one point. Spooked me a bit.
But it also reminded me of a riddle:
You're driving along at full speed. Coming around a blind curve you suddenly find a raccoon and a horn player in the road. You can't miss both of them. You're going to have to hit one of them. Which one do you choose?
Answer: Hit the horn player. After all, the raccoon might have a gig.

Having lived in the Baltimore-Washington area you see much bigger beltways and far heavier traffic. I could live with what you have.

oh man i bet scooting around the welsh countryside is amazing. It is indeed just over our mountain ridge is a 40 square mile area known as the green desert where there is no habitation which must be unique for such a small crowded island. It's where special forces train their staff in find and evasion techniques. Miles of tracks throughout the forestry etc and people live in vans or bender's around the area for yrs without being detected and moved on by the authorities. Most of the locals knows where people are and leave them to it if they're not causing anyone grief.
