Sorry I have posted or replied lately but I was out of town for a few weeks. So, we replaced the spark plug and double checked the carb settings and we still having a hard time starting it up. On the first start we can get her going pretty easily, but once it runs for a while we still cannot turn it off and start it right back up.

seals, gaskets, o-rings, etc on an older bike and esp one that has been altered (air box)-expand and contract at different rates when you start it and same for when you cool down the engine. air leaks, vacuum leaks, and everything else that can happen with humidity, barometric pressure and temperature will affect starting. and restarting. keep at it, but remember as many people here will attest to that 2 stroke engines are very dependent on tight seals and pressures. they are a blast to ride tho and worth the effort. congrats on getting it to run. I would not have had the patience you have shown.
